The Throwdowns Are About To Add A Whole New Element To What Puts Hawaii On The Map. Strong In A Number Of Unexpected Ways The Throwdowns Have Developed Their Own Indie Rock Pop-Punk Sound That Encompasses Dance And Reggae All With An Identifiable Connection To Hawaii. It's This Unique Sound Hook-Laden Songs Big Attitude And Killer Live Performances That Are Causing The Buzz About This Band. Fronted By Charismatic Canadian Powerhouse Vocalist & Performer Erin Smith And Rounded Out With Maui's Favorite Airborn Punk-Rock Bass Player Kimo Clark Big Island's Guitar & Production Gem Ola Shaw And The Most Powerful Drummer On Maui Ian Hollingsworth The Four Members Create A Sound That Is Much Bigger Than The Sum Of Their Already Impressive Talents And Backgrounds. After Ditching Out On The Cold Canadian Tour Scene Erin Moved To Maui Quickly Meeting Up With Ian And Kimo While Doing Acoustic Gigs Around The Maui Beach Town Of Kihei. For The First Few Years The Band Kicked Back Maui Style And Stuck To A Regimen Of Casual Music Playing And Surfing. But Once Confronted With The Reality That They Were In Fact Suffering From Polynesian Paralysis The 3 Piece Kicked It Into Gear In 2008. Digging Into Erin's Songs Switching Over To Electric Guitar And Letting Their Enormously Bold Stage Presence Fly The Band Made A Quick Hawaii Ascension And There Was No Turning Back. 2008 Saw The Band Officially Become "The Throwdowns" And They Were Given The Opportunity To Open For 311 At The Lahaina Civic Center And NOFX On The Hawaii Leg Of Their Tour. In Need Of A Recording That Would Do The Band Justice Kimo's Brother-In-Law Ola Shaw Flew Over To Maui From The Big Island After Offering Up His Production And Engineering Services. With Promises That He Was Going To Kill It He Arrived And Met Erin & Ian. He Totally Delivered On His Promise And Then Some. In Two Days The Band Wrapped Up Two Amazing Tracks That Would Be The Beginning Of Their Debut Album "Don't Slow Down". The Trio Had Decided Who The New Member Of The Band Should Be And Kimo Set To Work Convincing Ola To Join. He Did. Now All Based On Maui The Throwdowns Are Ready To Show The World What They Got.
