Artist Biography For The Areola Treat

The Areola Treat Are A Maltese Garage Rock Band Formed In Malta In 2007 By Original Band Line-Up Adrian Mizzi On Guitars Chris Busuttil On Drums Lisa M.Grimaud On Vocals And Matthew Cuschieri Until The Addition Of Steve Shaw On Bass In Late 2010. Inspired By UK-Based Late 1970s Punk And Rock And Roll Besides The Burgeoning Punk And Post Punk Revival The Areola Treat Are Arguably A Definitive Art Punk Ensemble Mostly Due To Their Detailed Tightness Blood-Curdling Screeching Growling Vocals And Punchy Guitars In The First Few Years Of The Band Being Formed And More Recently With Their Somewhat More Social Stance And Experimental Walls Of Sound. Their First Self-Titled Studio Ep The Areola Treat Was Published In 2008 And Met With Enthusiasm Under The Belgian Label Kinky Star. The Band’s First Studio Album ‘Pleasure Machines’ Released In 2011 Is A Reflection Of Pathways The Band Has Travelled Down And Alleys It Has Progressed Through Both Musically And Physically And A Hint Of A Slightly Noticeable Change In Direction And Drive. The Guitars Are Still Loud And The Riffs Are Still Punchy Yet There Is Something Strikingly Different About The Shape It’s Taken. Some Tracks Are Moodier Perhaps Slightly More Somber And More Abrasive Than The Previously-Recorded Ep While Others Are Vibrant And Bright The Guitars Appearing Richer And Even More Piercing And Shaken. The Album Cover Was Designed By Urban And Skateboard Artist Chris De Souza Jensen Of Sea Puppy And Prosimian And Featured Robotic Female Nudes Of A Playful Nature Blowing Themselves Up In What Seems To Be A Decadent Turkish-Inspired Bath. The Band Has Toured Venues Around Europe Namely Belgium And Italy Spending Their Touring Time Documenting Their Drives On Highways Gas Stations And Eateries And Sharing Online Updates With Their Fans Via Music Blog Updates. The Band Released The Radio On EP Releasing The Music Video By The Same Name. Radio On Is A Compilation Of Unreleased Tracks And B-Sides. The EP Was Recorded Edited And Mixed By Temple Studios Malta Except For The Instrumental Track Ligeia Inspired By Edgar Allen Poe's Fable Of The Same Name A Garage Recording Mixed By Lincoln Spiteri At Transfigured Studios. Their 2014 Album Entitled Walk Into Nothing Exuding A More Experimental/garage Rock Nature Is Set For Release In February. Once Again Darker Moodier Stripped Down In Parts And Then Enriched Dramatically In Bursts Of Energy And Enhanced Walls Of Sound. The Walk Into Nothing Cover Concept Is Reminiscent Of Da Vinci's The Last Supper In That The Betrayal Of Christ By Judas Retold In A Modern-Day Reality Where Our Righteous World Leaders Represented By The Motherly-Like Female Model Have Persuaded Us Into Believing Their Deception Is For The Greater Good. The Children Represent Civilians Disguised With Masks Because In The World We Have Inherited The 99% Is Still Irrelevant And Therefore Anonymous. The Girl At The Centre Of The Table Stands For Those Who Realise The Whole Affair The Once-Outdoor Birthday Party Is Somewhat Of A Scam That We Have Been Conned Into Thinking In This Tarnished Glossed-Up Way And Conform To What Our Leaders And Ministers Want From Us - To Becoming One Homogenous Mass Of Total Acceptance And Submission By The Power Of Distraction And Seduction. The Cover Artwork Was Designed And Executed By Lisa Who Says Of The Album "It Kind Of Stems From The Whole Orwellian 1984 Concept Of Thought Crime And Fictional Novels Like J. G. Ballard Where Everyone Turns On Each Other And From The Rule Of The Roman Empire To The Fascist Regime To The Wikileaks And Julian Assange Tribulations And The Pussy Riot Trials The North Korea Totalitarianism And Megaupload And Not Being Allowed To Share Thoughts And Files With Anyone Because It's Just Too Bad For The Bank Accounts Of The Corporate Sonys And Virgins. There Just Comes A Point Where You Can't Trust The Perpetrator Of The Lie". Walk Into Nothing Is Out 8th February.
