Terrorphobia (Album) by The Dead Magnolias

Artist Biography For The Dead Magnolias

The Dead Magnolias Are A Southern Band From Mississippi But That Is Where The Familiar Ends. Their Sound Could Be Called Alternative For Their Intellectual Brooding Tone Or "Southern Grunge" Due To Their Sometimes Heaviness Or Even "The Southern Smiths" For Their Wit And Humor. Andrew Hugg Spent A Year Writing While Living In Doha Qatar From 2007 Thru 2008. The Resulting Album 'TERRORphobia' Is A Testament To Their Flexibility Ranging From Metal To Country And Some Music That Defies Labels. The Album Is Their First And Much Of It Comes From The Isolation He Experienced Living In A Strange Middle Eastern Country And Also A Reflection On Fear Mostly From The Post-9/11 Experience We Americans Share. Some Songs Reflect Childhood Fear From Growing Up In Louisiana "Mosquitoman" And A Soldier's Fear Of War "Tears In The Sand" To The Coda Telling You That Things Will Be Alright "Smell The Magnolias" . Their Sound Must Be Experienced And Their Message Is One Of The Most Original And Intelligent Statements In Rock Today. Their Goal Is To Make "Music For Brilliant Humans" And They Are Coming Through With Flying Colors.

The Dead Magnolias Began With A Military Officer In The Middle East Serving During The War On Terror. A Southerner From New Orleans He Began Writing Between 2007 And 2008 Taking Influence From The Hookah Bars Sights And Strange Sounds Of Qatar And Saudi Arabia. The Resulting Album 'TERRORphobia' Is An Extraordinary Journey Driven By Fear Confusion And At Times An Ironic Wit And Light Spirit And A Slight Mistrust Of Preppies . It Is Dark And Brooding Like Classic Black Sabbath Or Alice In Chains But Also Has The Pop Sensibilities And Wit Of A Classic Smiths Album. Definitely Give This One A Spin. The Motto Of The Band Is Dead On This Is Truly "Music For Brilliant Humans."
