Tyller Gummersall Began Singing In Public When He Was 3-Years-Old. As A Member Of The Local Children’s Choir He Was Only Supposed To Sing The Chorus But Tyller Stood On The Edge Of The Bleachers Belting Out The Entire Song. He Began Guitar Lessons With Two-Time National Flat Pick Champion Gary Cook At 8 And Voice Lessons With Respected Los Angles Voice Coach Raven Kane Campbell At 14. Tyller Wrote His First Song When He Was 9. Ty Performed Solo For The First Time At A Local 4-H Talent Contest At Eight And Started Sitting In With Professional Bands For A Song Or Two At 10. By The Time He Was 15 Tyller Was Playing Lead Guitar And Singing Professionally In Local Bands.
At 17 He Put Together His First Band To Play Originals For The Durango Arts Festival Street Dance. The Band Was Composed Of Bass Drums Steel Pedal And Fiddle Along With Tyller On Lead Guitar/vocals He Created All Of The Original Arraignments As Well. Part Of Tyller's Evolution Was Opening With A 6 Piece Band For The Up And Coming Nashville Group KingBilly At The 600 Seat Fort Lewis College Community Concert Hall. Now 20 Years Old Tyller Took A Nearly 5 000 Mile 3 Week Road Trip Through Texas Ending In Nashville Last Winter Firmly Establishing A Desire To Make His Music Know In Those Areas.
Ty Was Humbled By The Experience Of Being Back-Stage At The Grand Ol Opry With His Mentor Gary Cook. Gary's Group The Bar-D Wranglers Shared The Stage That Night With Charlie Daniels And Many Other Legends.
Continuing The Amazing Experience Ty Got To Play With Nashville Greats At The Late Grandpa Jones' Nashville Farm.
Also Hearing Vince Gill And The Amazing Time Jumpers Play At The Small "Station Inn" Nashville Locals Venue Provided Tyller With Lots Of Inspiration. Spending Time In Nashville Ty Also Realized His Passion For Music Did Not Lie Within The Confines Of "Commercial Country".
A More "renegade" Approach To His Writing And Playing Places Tyller More On The Americana Or Alt. Country Side. Influenced By Two Older Brothers Along With His Parents Tyller Grew Up On The Likes Of Miles Davis B.B. King Bob Dylan Tom Petty And Van Morrison.
Discovering Hank Williams Sr. At An Early Age 8 "Hey Good Lookin" Was The First Song Ty Learned To Play And Sing. Studying Songwriters Like Ryan Adams Robert Earl Keen Hank Williams And Tom Petty Tyller Fell In Love With Penning Songs Of His Own. Playing Guitar For Over 12 Years Tyller Has Become Accomplished At His Instrument. But Having Heroes Such As Stevie Ray Vaughn B.B. King Jimmie Hendrix Junior Brown And Don Rich Ty Continues To Perfect His Craft. Ty Has Been Fortunate To Have Had Support From Regional And National DJ's Selectively Broadcasting His Songs Over The Airwaves. He Comes From A Creative Family. His Father C. Gregory Gummersall Is An Abstract Artist His Mother Jenny Gummersall A Fine Art Photographer Oldest Brother Josh Gummersall Is A Producer At Bedford Falls Company And Older Brother Devon Gummersall A Writer/actor. Tyller Was Raised On A Ranch In Southwest Colorado Where He Still Lives.
