Formed In 1971 VIA Samotsvety Самоцветы In Russian Translated As Gems Was A Soviet Pop/rock Group Extremely Popular In USSR. During More Than 20 Years Of Its History The Group Produced A Number Of Hits Which Still Remain Familiar Tunes In All Ex-USSR Countries.
The Group Was Created By Yury Malikov Who Remained The Group's Producer Until It Was Disbanded In Early 1990s. Samotsvety's Lineup Has Been Gradually Changing And Since Mid-70s Many Visible Soviet Pop Stars Were Members Of The Group.
Initially The Samotsvety's Repertoire Was Greatly Influenced By The Beatles And Other Groups Of 60-S. The Group Performed Songs By Many Soviet Composers And Despite Some Rock Flavor Never Been In Disfavor Of Authorities.
