Contraluz Was Born As A Rock Band In The Late '60s In Argentina. In Their First Stage Carlos Barrio In Guitar Néstor Barrio In Drums Freddy Prochnik In Bass And Alejndro Barzi In Flute And Voice Their Style Was Similar To That Of English Band Jethro Tull. But At The Beginning Of The '70s They Started To Shift To A More Unique Style Marked By Their Fusion Of Rock With National Musical Roots Incorporating Characteristics Of Argentine Folklore Music. Autochthonous Sounds Like Those From The Carnavalito And Many Others Appear Throughout The Band's Music. Their First LP "Americanos" Appeared In 1973. "Indios Sin Prisión" And "La Sarna Del Viento" Were Their Promotional Tracks And With Alvaro Cañada In Voice The Group Consolidated Their Own Style. Indubitably The Sound Of Contraluz Was Unique Among The Groups Of The Time Because They Mixed Argentine Musical And Folklore Roots - Without Neglecting Their Fidelity To Rock - Passionate Lyrics With A High Social Compromise A Very Precise Base Rhythmic Base And The Powerful Voice Of Alvaro Unprecedented In The Argentine National Rock Scene. Unfortunately Despite Their Great Success At The Buenos Aires Rock I And II Various Live Performances And Radio/tv Appearances The Band Entered A Long Hiatus After Releasing Their Latest Single In 1974 "Que Tu Voz Se Escuche". This Single Due To The Concurrent Circumstances In Argentina At The Time Was Censored Which Impacted The Band Quite Negatively Ultimately Leading To The Breakup Of Contraluz. More Than Twenty Years Had Gone By Without A Word From The Group Members But The Foundations Of The Past Lineup Of The Group Lasted In Their Hearts. Carlos And Néstor Barrio Freddy Prochnik Along With Jaime Fernández Madero Revived The Group With Their Ideals Intact Which Seemed Like A Miracle For Many Of The Old Fans That Had Probably Forgotten About The Band Altogether. Three Years Of Intense Rehearsals With The Creation And Evolution Of New Songs With Complex And Elaborated Arrangements - True To The Original Style Of The Group - Gave Birth To A New Album "El Pasaje" An Independently Produced CD. With More Than 60 Minutes Of Music With Symphonic Rock And Folklore Influences The Same Passionate Lyrics That Marked The Past Sound Of The Band Plus A Sound Enriched By The Keyboards And The Incredible Voice Of Jaime This New Album Boasts A Complex And Solid Rhythmic Base. All This Along With The Flute Now Played By Carlos Are Part Of This New Contraluz Which Stays True To Its Origins. Their Seriousness Has Had A Great Feedback In The Specialized Media Concerning Contraluz's Comeback. read less
