They Were Formed In The Early 1990s By Singer/guitarist Jonny Collins And Bassist David W. Brown. The Band's Most Notable Musical Influences Are The Great Pop Groups Of The 1960s Such As The Beach Boys The Beatles The Byrds And The Kinks. They Played Their First Gig In March 1993 At The Mauretania In Bristol The Band's Line-Up Then Consisting Of Singer/guitarist Jonny Collins Bassist David W. Brown Guitarist Jim Harvey Keyboardist Mark Langley And Drummer Art Chalinder. September 1994 Saw The First Line-Up Change With Phil Johnson-Smith Replacing Jim Harvey On Guitar. Modesty Blaise Released Their Debut Single 'Christina Terrace' In December 1994. April Of 1995 Saw More Line-Up Changes As Mark Langley Left The Band With John Shewan Taking Over On Keyboard Duties And Gregory Jones Filling The Vacancy Left By The Also Departing Phil Johnson-Smith On Guitar. It Wasn't Until June 1996that The Longest Serving Line-Up Of Modesty Blaise Took Shape Jonny Collins On Vocals And Guitar David W. Brown On Bass Gregory Jones On Guitar Clem Courtney On Keyboards And Julien Clapperton On Drums. In October Of 1997 They Released Their Debut Album Modern Guitars With Amplification. After Joining German Label Apricot September 1999 Saw The Release Of A Beginners Guide To Modesty Blaise A Compilation Album Featuring Early Singles Alternate Versions And Previously Unreleased Tracks. An EP Uranium Girl Followed In November 1999. The Band's Second Full-Length Studio Album Melancholia Was Released In November 2000. Inexplicably There Was To Be No New Music From Modesty Blaise Over The Next 10 Years Until - In June 2012 - A New Single Dropped 'Commercial Suicide' B/w 'Heavy Metal Friend' A Double A-Side CD. The 2012 Line-Up Consisted Of Jonny Collins On Vocals And Guitar David W. Brown On Bass Gregory Jones On Guitar Alastair Jenkins On Guitar And Mark Bradley On Drums. 2. Modesty Blaise Was A Psychedelic Rock Band From Haarlem The Netherlands Featuring Gerard Brammer Hilbert Bolland And Rob Ten Bokum. They Released Two 45s 'Mingus' B/w 'Your Way' 1969 And 'Morning Sun' B/w 'Break Of The Day' 1970 Before Abbreviating Their Band Name As Blaise They Released A Final Single In 1972 With A Very Different Line-Up.
