Artist Biography For Kenny Rittenhouse

Trumpeter Kenny Rittenhouse Has Led His Own Jazz Quartet Since 1993. The Group Has Performed In And Around The Washington DC Area. Kenny Has Performed With Jazz Artists Drummer Ralph Peterson Saxophonists Don Braden Buck Hill And Steve Wilson Bassists James King Dwayne Dolphin And Butch Warren And With The Cannonball Adderly Tribute Big Band. He Has Also Given Clinics And Master Classes Alongside Jazz Educator Jamey Aebersold And Trumpeter/clinician Vince Dimartino. Kenny Also Subs Regularly With The Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. In 1988 He Earned A Bachelor’s Degree In Trumpet Performance With An Emphasis In Jazz Studies From West Virginia Wesleyan College. While At WVWC He Studied Trumpet From Dr. Tim Dewitt And Was Guided Through His Degree By His Mentor Dr. David Milburn. He Also Did Graduate Work At The Eastman School Of Music And At Duquesne University In Pittsburgh PA Where He Studied With Roger Sherman Of The Pittsburgh Symphony And Jazz Saxophonist Eric Kloss. In May 2006 He Earned A Masters Degree In Jazz Performance From The University Of Maryland Where He Studied With Trumpeter Chris Gekker And Performed In The UMD Jazz Ensemble Directed By Chris Vadala. Since 1990 Kenny Has Been A Member Of The United States Army Band Pershing’s Own In Washington DC. This Is The Premier Band Of The Army Performing Ceremonies And Concerts At The Pentagon White House The US Capital And In The DC Metro Area. He Currently Performs With The Army Blues Jazz Ensemble.
