In August 1998 "Lost In Love" Went To Number #1 On The Official Recorded Music Charts NZ. The Euro-Dance Cover Version Of The Air Supply Song Was A Hit Among The NZ Radio Audience. A Number Of Record Companies Were Interested In Deep Obsession They Chose To Work With George Ash From Universal Music Group NZ. The Initial Success Of Their First Single "Lost In Love" Was So Sudden That A Psychedelic Animated Story Was Bought From Germany And Used As The Video Release. This Was The First Move By The Universal Music NZ. However It Was Not Approved To Use For Any Longer Than A Year And Is No Longer Available To View. No-One Can Find A Copy Of That Video. Deep Obsession Finished Recording Their Debut Album "Infinity" In Australia With Steve Peach And Paul Goodyear In 1999. At A Total Cost Of NZ$50 000. At Home In New Zealand The Public Thought Deep Obsession Were European This Improved The Overall Enigmatic Appeal Of The Group. They Released The Second Song "Cold" Written By Zara Clark And Chris Banks. But There Was A Problem With The First Video For "Cold" See YouTube - Glad Wrap Video/big Fluffy Hats . It Should Never Have Seen The Light Of Day But Behold The Internet You Can Have A Giggle. The First Video Was So Bad Deep Obsession Could Not Release It And As They Felt It Would Affect The Songs Chart Placement Detrimentally. They Went About Making A Second Video. A Friend Of The Group Called In A Favour From Film Producer Rongotai Lomas. He Filmed The Actual Release Party For The Single "Cold" Held At A Night Club In Auckland. The Girls Took Charge Of Their Own Image With The Help Of John @ DJ Station On K'Rd It Was Sexy Space Clubber Image. Rongotai Lomas Worked A Creative Genius Miracle When He Produced The Amazing Montage Of Visual Excitement And Hype From The Official Video Release Party. That Week "Cold" Climbed To The Number #1 Spot On The Official Recorded Music Charts When That Video Was Released. Co-Founder Producer Key Songwriting Partner Chris Banks Left Deep Obsession Before The Third Single "One And Only" Was Released And Reached Number #1 On The Charts. Chris Was Offered A Music Producer Role At Universal Music And A Six Figure Publishing Deal. Chris Banks And Michael Lloyd Took More FM Support With Them When They Left The Group And Grant Kearney Aka Sample G Assumed The Management And Music Producer Role For Deep Obsession. Grant Really Pushed Hard To Get Continued Radio Support For Deep Obsession. The Next Single "One And "Only" Was Without Chris Involved And No-One Knew What Would Happen. It Hit Number #1 On The Charts. Next Release Was "You Got The Feeling" Charted In The Top 20. "I Surrender" Written By Zara Clark And Chris Banks Was The Last Song From The "Infinity" Album To Be Released As A Single Although It Never Had A Video. Therefore Had No Chance At Charting Well.
