Nicholas Maloney Is A Sound Artist Multi-Instrumentalist Performer And Recording Engineer From Jackson Mississippi. He Earned His Bachelor's Degree In Recording Industry Production From The University Of Southern Mississippi In 2017. Working Primarily In The Areas Of Drone Ambient Musique Concrète And Electroacoustic Improvisation Nicholas Creates Recordings That He Feels Can Provoke Emotion While At The Same Time Offering A Pallet Of Sound That Can Be Used To Practice The Rewarding Act Of Deep Listening. He Looks To Challenge The Listeners’ Focus And Perception Of Sound. Much Of His Work Explores The Textural Nature Of Sound Within A Framework Of Progressing And Evolving Compositions. He Is Interested In The Interaction Among Texture Sound And Space.​ Under His Full Name Nicholas Maloney Creates And Releases Compositions Using Field Recordings Found Sounds And A Variety Of Processing And Audio Transformation Techniques. He Also Records Under The Moniker Blanket Swimming Exploring Experimental Ambient And Drone Compositions Using Guitar Synthesizers Tape Manipulation Field Recordings Voice And Other Instrumentation. Blanket Swimming Has The Rare Talent Of Straddling Both Melancholy Drones And Uplifting Melodies Striking Lasting Emotional Impression By Exercising The Construction/destruction Of Stereo Drones With Found Sounds And Often Ethereal Vocals. Maloney Also Records Under The Name Sleep Silver Lightning Exploring Compositions For The Guitar And Voice. This Project Serves As An Outlet For Nicholas' Solo-Acoustic Songs And Experimental Rock Recordings. Maloney Was Also The Primary Guitarist/vocalist For Experimental/post-Rock Band The Empty Handed Painters As Well As The Guitarist/vocalist For Experimental/lofi/garage-Rock/noise Rock Trio The Villetown Mountain Army Brigade.
