There Are At Least Three Bands Called The New Creatures 1. A Dutch Band From Eindhoven Having Tonefloat Records As Their Record Company. 2. A US Goth Band. "This Talented Band Leapt Into The Public Eye When They Were Unceremoniously Dumped From A The Sisters Of Mercy Show In Philadelphia For Being In A.E.'s Opinion "too Goth" To Share Stage With Him." People Who Are Aware Of The Origins Have No Confusion Whatsoever. Now I Know Siouxsie And Budgie And They Have Absolutely No Problem With The Name So I Don't See Why Anyone Else Would. People Just Have To Use A Very Little Bit Of Brain Power To Figure Out That One Has Nothing To Do With The Other." Also Clear Are His Comments About The Gothic Movement "In My Soul I Am A Goth- But Many Of The Goth's Are So Small Minded And Rigid That I Have A Hard Time Aligning Myself With Them In Particular. I Was Always Afraid That This Attitude Would Destroy The Movement But Some Of The 4th And 5th Generation Goth's Don't Care So Much About The History And It's "rules" And So They Are Taking Chances And Introducing New Elements Into The Scene While Retaining The Attitude And Image. I Think This Is Exciting And A Hope For The Scene. It's What The New Creatures Always Did With Varying Degrees Of Support/resistance From The Fandom. Change Or Die. Bring In Anything You Can To Make Good New And Exciting Music- I Find Any Rules Limiting That's WHY I'm A Rock Musician!" The New Creatures Want To Reach People On An Emotional Level To Make A Connection. You Know How You Have A Song That You Listen To That Makes You Say "this Band Or Singer Knows How I Feel This Music And These Lyrics Are Speaking For Me" Mark Had Songs Like That And He Wishes To Touch Someone In A Personal Way. The Lyrics Are For The Most Part Reality Based-Stories Of His Life And Experiences Although A Couple Are Fantasy. He Believes It's Important To Write About What You Know And Where The Lyrics Leave Off The Music Takes Over To Drive The Feeling Home. His Aim Is To Express Real Life Emotion And Sincerity With A Message Of Hope. To Show That Things Can Be Serious Or Sad And Not Have To Equate With Death Depression And Suicide. "I Don't Believe That Was Ever The Intention Of The Seeds Of This Scene". 3. An Ohio-Based Rock Band That Operated From 1981 - 1988. Fronted By Eventual Guided By Voices Bassist Greg Demos The New Creatures Also Featured Bill Hustad On Bass Don Thrasher Also Of Gudied By Voices On Drums And Dana Marshall Later Of Scrawl On Drums For A Brief Period Of Time. During Its Existence The Band Released A Cassette A 7" And An LP All Of Which Feature A Blend Of Punk And Garage Rock With Hints Of Psychedelic And Progressive Rock.
