Artist Biography For Pk Fire

PK Fire Is An American Indie Rock Band From Michigan. The Band Features Kurtis Roy Paul Cherewick Nick Galli Taylor Jeffers And Andrew Adams. The Band Has Recorded And Released Three EPs The Most Recent Of These Being These Bleak Weeks Released In November 2011. PK Fire Was Formed In June 2008 By Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Classmates Paul Cherewick And Kurtis Roy In Plymouth Michigan. Initially The Band Was Folk Music Oriented With Cherewick Playing Banjo And Roy Guitar. The Group's Name Is Both An Allusion To A Move In Super Smash Bros. And A Play On The First Initials Of Paul And Kurt. PK Fire Added A Third Member Andrew Adams Later In 2008. Instrument Arrangements For This Trio Were Very Fluid. Adams Played Drums Bass And Guitar Cherewick Played Banjo Guitar And Vocals And Roy Played Drums Bass Banjo Synthesizer Guitar And Vocals. The Band's Live Shows Consisted Of Folk Songs And Electric Songs. Adams Left The Group In 2009. In July 2009 PK Fire Added Taylor Jeffers On Bass And Nick Galli On Drums. With Their Addition The Line Up Solidified. Cherewick Continued To Offer Banjo Guitar And Vocals And Roy Played Guitar Synth And Vocals. The Group's Debut EP Cardboard Box Friends Was Released In January 2010. It Was Marketed As Folk Pop And Featured All Acoustic Instrumentation. Friends Of The Band Elise Chagas Jeff Garcia And Avery Bruni Played Cello Trumpet And Violin For The Recording Respectively. PK Fire Played A Final Show At The Barn A Community Center In Canton Michigan On August 13 2010. The Band Which Had Decided To Break Up In Advance Of Cherewick's Move To Chicago Illinois To Attend Columbia College Chicago Released An Untitled Hand-Distributed Three Song EP At The Final Show. It Was Colloquially Referred To As "The Final EP " Eventually The Band Put It Online With The Name "Timeline Of Your Past Loves Leading Up To The Present " A Tribute To A Very Early PK Fire Song Name. After A Six Month Gap Which Included Many Side Projects Including Oh Hi Oh Pleasant Peninsula And Tregulars PK Fire Decided To Reunite In March 2011. The Decision Was Announced Via Facebook Message. Andrew Adams Rejoined The Band Playing Guitar Shortly After. Cherewick Dropped The Banjo And The Band's Live Set Moved Away From Its Old Mix Of Folk And Snyth Pop To A More Consistent Indie Rock Sound Drawing From Post Punk Revival And Emo Influences Like Two Door Cinema Club And Darwin Deez. These Bleak Weeks The Band's First EP Since Reforming Was Recorded In July 2011 At Minx Studios. The Single She's History Was Released In Late August As A Free Download On The Group's Bandcamp. The Rest Of The EP Was Released In November 2011.
