After Spending Years Dabbling In Songwriting And Finishing A Music Degree Leslie Sanazaro Started Pursuing A Solo Career In 2003. Playing Piano And Guitar And Singing She Began Writing The Songs That Would Later Become 'Stars In The Attic'. These Songs Were Polished And Some Fully Written In The Solitude Of Her Attic Space Naturally Where She Began Really Seeking The Sound Of Her Own Music. It Is Piano Based Singer-Songwriter Style Material Influenced By Her Musical Past Which Included A Trip-Hop Band Quirky Political Downtempo Harmony Based Pop Jazz And Classical Training. She Grew Up Listening To A Lot Of Pop And Classic Rock And Still Draws Influence From Writers And Performers Like Carole King Joni Mitchell Paul Simon And Rickie Lee Jones. More Contemporary Influences Might Include Aimee Mann Regina Spektor Fiona Apple Or Sarah McLaughlin. Wide And Varied Her Sound Is Original In It's Collective Influence And She's A Very Passionate Player Live. She Supports Environmental Causes Regularly Having Organized A 20 City Tour Last Year With Two Other Songwriters Spanning The US And Canada To Promote 'Stars In The Attic' Along With Jen Woodhouse And Todd Sapio Of Language Room In Addition To Other Smaller Tours In The Midwest And Northeast. Playing Shows Planting Trees And Presenting Environmental Speakers During Performances On These Tours She Continues To Work Towards Supporting Work For Sustainable Living. Having Spent The Last Year Touring And Maintaining A Heavy Playing Schedule Near Her Home Leslie Is Currently Playing Shows In Asia And Will Return Home In May '08 To Begin Recording Her New Full Length Record To Be Released Summer '08 And Will Begin Festivals And Touring Late Summer To Fall To Promote The Record.
