Leonel Almeida Born 17.05.1952 Is A Caboverdean Singer From The Island Of São Vicente. At The Age Of 17 He Launched His Musical Career As A Member Of The Group Birds Along With Guitarist And Producer Paulino Vieira. After Having Recorded Covers With A Number Of Other Groups He Was Drafted In The Portuguese Army When He Was 20. The Experience Was A Turning Point In His Life And He Began To Sing Revolutionary Songs. Later He Joined The Group Voz De Cabo Verde Where He Met Legendary Saxophonist Luis Morais. The Group Toured Europe The United States And Africa And Recorded A Number Of Albums With Almeida As Lead Singer. Today Leonel Almeida Lives In Lisbon Where He Accepts Gigs And Spends Time On His Hobby African Cuisine. read less
