Cut And Run by Cockeyed Ghost

Artist Biography For Cockeyed Ghost

Cockeyed Ghost Was A Los Angeles-Based Power Combo Who Was--Somewhat Improbably--Equally Indebted To Both '80s Post-Punk Especially Husker Du And The Replacements And '70s Soft Rock Songwriters Including Paul McCartney And Especially Elton John. From 1996 To 1999 They Were Signed To Indie Label Big Deal Who Released Their First Trio Of Records Toured With Other Like-Minded Acts Including Shonen Knife The Wondermints And Martin Luther Lennon. The Band Slotted Neatly Into The Southern California Alt-Pop Scene Of The Mid-90s Which Had Opened Up To Include Geek Rock Bands Like Weezer Cuomo And Marsland Were Acquaintances That Dog. And Possum Dixon. Cockeyed Ghost's Sound And Lineup Changed Significantly During Their Existence With A Gradual Shift From A Powerful Bottom-Heavy Indie Power Pop Sound To A More Meditative Piano-Driven "songwriter" Band As They Morphed From A Full-Fledged Group To A Vehicle For Vocalist Adam Marsland's Increasingly Personal Songwriting. The Band's Fourth And Final Album 2001's "Ludlow 6 18 " Was Released On Marsland's Own Karma Frog Records Following Big Deal's Dissolution And It Was The Band's Most Personal Grandiose And Quiet Record. Following A String Of Cross-Country Solo Tours Marsland Then Retired The Cockeyed Ghost Name And Turned The Remains Of Cockeyed Ghost Into A Solo Project Who Often Perform With Singer Evie Sands Under The Name "Adam Marsland's Chaos Band."
