DEEP BUDDHA Features Original Vocals Percussion Flutes And Other Indigenous Instruments Recorded By The Band In Monasteries Temples Streets And Villages In Kathmandu Nepal And The Surrounding Himalayan Foothills Crafted Into Sensuous And Infectious Melodies And Beats. Traveling Halfway Around The World To A Undeveloped Land Requires Months Of Research And Preparation. Unable To Set Up Sessions In Advance The Band Had To Find Their Way To The Music Past The Suspicion That All Westerners Face When Attempting To Capture The Sacred Music And Culture That Is Nepal. Armed With Field Recording Equipment And Pair Of Stereo Microphones The Band Took Up Residence At The Hotel Ganesh Himal In The Heart Of Kathmandu. From Home Base The Band Adventured Into The Himalayas And Into The Surrounding Villages Guided By Veteran Wilderness Guide National Geographic Photographer And Extreme Mountaineer Gordon Wiltsie. Contact Was Soon Made With Chokyi Nyima Head Of The Tibetan Buddhist Monastery Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling. After Several Hours Of Conversation And The Requirement That The Band Participate In A Traditional Cha Süma Tea Ceremony - A Tea Made From Yak Butter Dating Back To The 13th Century - The Band Finally Set Up Recording Gear And Microphones In The Monastery Recording Hours Of Traditional Tibetan Buddhist Monk Chanting. A Generous Donation Was Given To The Monastery At The Close Of The Day. As Word Spread Throughout Kathmandu That The Band Was Looking For Singers And Instrumentalists The Band Stayed Busy For The Remainder Of The Trip If Not Recording In The Make-Shift Hotel Studio Then In Surrounding Villages Making Friends And Making Music. Two Days Before The Band Was Scheduled To Leave One Of The Local Musicians The Band Recorded Suggested A Meeting With The Headmaster Of The Local Boarding School To Discuss Recording School Children's Recitals. They Met With Ven Jampa Phuntsok Tibetan Monk And School Principal Of Srongtsen Bhrikuti Boarding School Who Immediately Wanted To Know "what's In It For My Kids?". Srongtsen Bhrikuti Boarding School Was Initially Founded To Provide Education For Child Refugees From Tibet. The School Has Expanded And Is Now A Boarding School For Orphans Very Poor Children Or Those Whose Families Are Unfit To Take Care Of Them. Through Scholarships The School Gives Them The Opportunity To Follow A Course Of Study In The Best Environment Possible For Their Own Personal Development. The Band Made Several Donations To The School Including Paying A Full Year's Tuition For Five Children Purchased Uniforms For The School And New Instruments For The Music Teachers Which Were Shipped In From Jaipur Rajasthan India. After A Morning Recording In The Classrooms The Band Set Up Their Equipment In The Huge Gathering Area Outside And To Their Delight Recorded The Entire School Of Some 600 Children Singing The Tibetan National Anthem. This Has Been Released As "The Tibetan National Anthem By The Srongtsen Bhrikuti Choir" Available On ITunes And All Digital Services. It Took Six Months In A Studio In Los Angeles To Sort And Organize All The Recordings From Nepal. Another Eleven Months Was Spent Writing And Creating The Recording Ultimately Entitled "Deep Buddha". This Recording Is Being Re-Released After Having Gone Through A Meticulous Remastering Process Utilizing The Latest Sound Imaging Technology.
