Artist Biography For Almost Charlie

Almost Charlie Is An Alt-Pop Group Formed By Musician/composer Dirk Homuth And Lyricist Charlie Mason. To This Day Dirk Homuth And Charlie Mason Have Never Met. Yet They Have Still Developed A Successful Creative Songwriting Collaboration Via The Internet. The Strict Division Of Duties Between Lyricist And Composer Brings To Mind Classic Song-Writing Teams Such As Elton John/Bernie Taupin Or Burt Bacharach/Hal David. Similar To Elliott Smith Homuth Uses A Rich Palette Of Melodies To Convey Devotion And Longing - But The Apparent Simplicity Of The Songs Is Deceptive. The Compositions Are Steeped In The Knowledge That Every Magical Beginning Contains The Seeds Of Its Own Destruction.
Since Mason Co-Write All Of The Group's Songs Homuth Named The Band After Him So That Although His Friend Is "unable To Play Any Instrument More Complicated Than A Toaster " He Could Still Be Represented In Some Way. Almost Charlie's Debut Album Loving Counterclockwise Was Released To Positive Reviews In 2006 By Phonector Their Follow-Up Tentatively Titled The Plural Of Yes Was Released In 2009 By The American Indie Label Words On Music. Almost Charlie Has Performed Throughout Germany As Well As At The Legendary Cavern Club — The Liverpool Venue That Launched The Beatles — During The 2007 International Pop Overthrow Festival. The Band Has Performed With France's Renowned Louise Attaque And Homuth Also Plays As A Sideman With Berlin's Electronic-Pop Outfit Ofrin. Homuth Played Electric Guitar And Glockenspiel On Several Tracks On Oren Lavie's Breakthrough Record The Opposite Side Of The Sea.
