Charlotte Emma Aitchison Known Professionally As Charli XCX Is An English Singer And Songwriter. Born In Cambridge And Raised In Start Hill Essex She Began Posting Songs On Myspace In 2008 Which Led To Her Discovery By A Promoter Who Invited Her To Perform At Warehouse Raves And Parties. In 2010 She Signed A Recording Contract With Asylum Records Releasing A Series Of Singles And Mixtapes Throughout 2011 And 2012. In 2012 Charli XCX Rose To Prominence With The Icona Pop Collaboration "I Love It" Which Became An International Success Reaching Top 10 In North America And Europe. Her Debut Studio Album True Romance 2013 Was Released That Year To Critical Acclaim Despite Not Meeting Commercial Expectations. In 2014 She Contributed The Chorus And Hook To "Fancy" By Rapper Iggy Azalea Which Finished The Year As One Of The Best-Selling Singles Worldwide And Was Nominated For Two Grammy Awards. The Same Year Charli XCX Released "Boom Clap" Which Became Her First Solo Top-Ten Single On The Billboard Hot 100. Charli Announced The Album Title Release Date And Artwork On November 4 2021. Her Website Was Also Updated With Information About The Album's 2022 Tour. The Album Was Preceded By The Four Singles "Good Ones" "New Shapes Feat. Christine And The Queens And Caroline Polachek " "Beg For You Feat. Rina Sawayama " "Baby" And Two Promotional Singles "Every Rule" And "Used To Know Me". The Sound Consists Of 80s 90s & 00s Inspired Synth-Pop Dance-Pop & Power-Pop. When Teasing And Promoting The Record Since May 2021 Charli Took On An Evil Demonic Or Soulless Persona So As To Play Into A Deal-With-The-Devil Idea. Visuals For The Album Include "femme Fatale Powers" And A Multitude Of "dark Spells And Curses" As Well As Signature Nods To Both Cars And Car Crashes. Its Title And Overall Aesthetic Was Inspired By David Cronenberg's 1996 Movie 'Crash'. On May 23 2021 She Indicated That The Album Was "for The "True Romance" Angels" And That She Wanted To Have A Song That Is "Stay Away 2.0". Then On July 8 Charli Posted That She Was Extremely Into Songs That She Did Not Compose. During This Month Charli Began To Publish A Lot Of Tweets And Instagram Photographs Indicating That The Album Would Be Her "evil Era".
