In 2008 Jepsen Released Her Folk Music-Influenced Debut Studio Album Tug Of War In Canada. Jepsen's Breakthrough Came In 2012 With Her Single "Call Me Maybe" The Song Was The Best-Selling Single Of That Year Selling 18 Million Copies And Reaching Number One In At Least 19 Countries. It Led To Record Deals With School Boy Records And Interscope Records. Later That Year Jepsen Released Her Second Studio Album Kiss. In 2014 She Made Her Broadway Theatre Stage Debut Playing The Titular Character In Cinderella For 12 Weeks. The Following Year She Released Her Third Studio Album Emotion Influenced By 1980s Music Dance-Pop And Synth-Pop. In 2016 Jepsen Performed In The Television Special Grease Live And Voiced The Animated Film Ballerina. Carly discussed writing the song on The Zane Lowe Show in October 2022; she explained how the song was written after a session she and Rostam had earlier that day - stating, 'it was around 8PM, we had wrapped up, and [Rostam] just pulled out the guitar and [started playing the chords of ‘Go Find Yourself or Whatever’], and nudged over a room mic to me, and was like, ‘Are you ready to go home?’, and I’m like ‘Ugh, okay’ and I just picked up the microphone, starting singing a few things I don’t even remember - like lyrically, even, singing about.'
‘I kinda forgot about [the song], because it was a late night session, and doing two songs in a day sometimes your brain starts to play tricks on you, so it was about two weeks later - maybe three weeks, and Rostam sent me the demo like ‘Remember this?’ and I listened to it and I was like, ‘Huh… am I allowed to do songs like that?’

In Support Of The Album Jepsen Embarked On The So Nice Tour Which Began In September 2022. In May 2020 Jepsen Revealed That She's Recorded An "entire Quarantine Album" During The Lockdown. Jepsen Spoke To The Guardian That She Was Writing Songs Over Zoom Alongside Longtime Collaborator Tavish Crowe. While Discussing The Album In An Interview With Crack Jepsen Stated She Wanted To Be Less Conscious Of The Decades She's Been Moving.
