Named After A Famous Rock 'n Roll Song By Sticks McGee And After The American Name For A Drink Made Of Whiskey And Red Wine Spo Dee O Dee Is An Alternative Rock Band From Amsterdam The Netherlands Fronted By Songwriter Ross Curry Vocals Guitar . The Band Was Established In January 1989 And The Line-Up Was Completed By Jan Holtman Drums Percussion And Ralph Brink Backing Vocals Bass . They Released Their Début Single 'Stand Up' In The First Year Of Their Existence. Spo Dee O Dee Released Two Studio Albums Goin' Walkabout 1991 And Second Coming 1993 . The Albums Got Rave Reviews But Their Commercial Performance Was Disappointing Leading To Spo Dee O Dee's Demise In 1994. The Band Toured In Its Original Line-Up In 2002 Under A Different Band Name Seed. A Second Reunion This Time Under The Original Band Name Was Announced In The Fall Of 2019.
