Rembrandt Frerichs Born 1977 Is A Dutch Jazz Pianist And Composer. As A Student He Received A Scholarship From The Fund For Outstanding Young Musicians To The New York Conservatory. He Graduated With Honors From The Royal Conservatory In The Hague. At The Age Of 22 He Made His Debut At The North Sea Jazz Festival. He Collaborated With Saxophonist Michael Brecker Among Others Who Said About Him "This Guy Sounds Great". Rembrandt Plays In Various Ensembles Of His Own Such As The Rembrandt Frerichs Trio With Tony Overwater And Vinsent Planjer And Levantasy. In Addition To The American Jazz Tradition He Is Also Influenced By Arabic Musical Styles And Philosophy. Frerichs Teaches Jazz Piano At The Tilburg Conservatory And Works As A Guest Teacher At The Conservatories Of Amsterdam Rotterdam And Utrecht. He Is Also The Artistic Director Of A Number Of Cultural Venues Such As The Rabo Jazz Festival Oud-Beijerland The Waterfront Jazz Club Almere And The Regentenkamer The Hague . His Debut CD Self Portrait 2006 Was Nominated For An Edison Award And Was "Album Of The Week" On London Jazz Radio. In 2010 Rembrandt Frerichs Played At The Legendary Jazz Club Birdland In New York Together With Trumpeter Michael Varekamp Among Others. That Same Year The NRC Handelsblad Wrote About Him "Rembrandt Turns Jazz Into A Richer Story". His Compositions Are Played And Recorded By Musicians From Classical World And Jazz Music. With His Rembrandt Frerichs Trio He Gives A Series Of Concerts For Dutch Museums "The Art Of The Trio" In Which Specially Composed And Improvised Music Is Performed Inspired By The Works Of Art In The Museum.
