I Tankard Sono Un Gruppo Speed/Thrash Metal Nato A Francoforte Germania Nel 1982. Dopo Aver Perso Il Loro Chitarrista Fecero Uscire Il Loro Primo Disco Zombie Attack Nel 1986. Da Lì In Poi Il Gruppo Ha Continuato A Fare Canzoni E Album Con Lo Stesso Stile Un Thrash Metal Molto Veloce E Con Tematiche In Onore Dell'alcool. Per Questo Il Gruppo Sostiene Di Aver Inventato Un Nuovo Genere Chiamato "Alcoholic Metal". I Tankard Si Sono Anche Proclamati "Kings Of Beer" Re Della Birra Con Riferimento Alla Figura Folkloristica Di Gambrino. Storia Della Band
I Tankard Furono Fondati A Francoforte Nel 1982 Da I Due Compagni Di Classe Frank Thorwarth Alla Voce E Alex Katzmann Alla Chitarra Subito Dopo Si Unì Andreas Geremia Al Basso. Successivamente Andreas Geremia E Frank Thorwarth Si Invertirono. Bernhard Rapprich Fu Il Secondo Chitarrista Della Band Ma Ben Presto Fu Costretto Dal Padre Ad Abbandonare La Band Poiché Non Voleva Che Il Figlio "girasse Con Una Compagnia Di Ubriaconi" E Fu Sostituito Da Andy Bulgaropulos. Con Alla Batteria Oliver Werner Il Gruppo Era Al Completo. In Quegli Anni La Band Assunse I Nomi Di Vortex E Avenger Per Poi Assumere Il Nome Tankard Dicendo Che Era Più Adatto A Loro Il "Tankard" È Un Boccale Per Bere Birra . La Prima Canzone Composta Fu "Ray Death" Un Pezzo Sulla Guerra Nucleare E Il Loro Primo Show Si Tenne In Una Classe Nel 1983. Poiché Alla Band Non Era Permesso Di Consumarre Alcolici Nella Scuola I Membri Misero Della Birra In Cartoni Del Latte. Nel 1984 E Il 1985 Uscirono I Primi Due Demo Dei Tankard Heavy Metal Vanguard E Alcoholic Metal E Grazie A Quest'ultimo La Noise Records Li Notò E Contattò La Band. Così I Tankard Firmarono Il Loro Primo Contratto In Un Pub. Nel 1986 Uscì Il Primo Album Ufficiale Zombie Attack E Sotto La Noise Records Vengono Pubblicati Altri Sei Album In Studio Una Raccolta Un Live E L'EP Alien L'ultimo A Uscire Per La Noise È L'ononimo The Tankard Nel 1995. Nel 1989 Oliver Werner Lascia La Band E Lo Sostituisce Il Batterista Arnulf Tunn Che Esordisce Nella Band Con L'album The Meaning Of Life Nel 1990. Il 4 Marzo 1990 I Tankard Partecipano Al Thrashing East Festival A Berlino Est Insieme Ai Conpaesani Kreator Gli Svizzeri Coroner E Gli Inglesi Sabbat Il Concerto Viene Registrato E Pubblicato Nel VHS Open All Night. Nel Dicembre Del 1993 Esce Two-Faced E In Seguito Arnulf Tunn Lascia La Band E Viene Sostituito Da Olaf Zissel. Nel 1994 Andreas Geremia E Frank Thorwarth Formano I Tankwart Progetto Parallelo Ai Tankard E Esce Aufgetankt. L'anno Successivo Alex Katzmann Lascia La Band Dopo Tredici Anni Di Militanza. Andy Bulgaropulos Decide Di Occuparsi Da Solo Della Chitarra E Così Escono The Tankard E Un Altro Album Dei Tankwart Himbeergeist Zum Frühstück Un Album Divertente Con Cover Come Tanze Samba Mit Mir Di Tony Holiday Chiaramente In Chiave Thrash-Punk. La Band Firma Un Contratto Con La Label Century Media Per La Quale Escono Disco Destroyer Nel 1998 E King Of Beer Nel 2000. Sempre Nel 1998 Andy Bulgaropulos Abbandona Il Gruppo E Viene Subito Sostituito Da Andy Gutjahr. Per Il Ventesimo Anniversario Dei Tankard Esce B-Day Per La AFM Records. Nella Versione Limitata Dell'album Viene Aggiunta Una Piccola Chicca Per I Fans Un Secondo CD Contenente I Primi Due Demo Tape Ormai Introvabili. I Tankard Sembrano Aver Finalmente Trovato Una Formazione Fissa E A Dicembre 2008 Esce Thrist Il Tredicesimo Album Della Band. Formazione
