"We Care a Lot" is a song by Faith No More. It was released on the studio albums We Care A Lot and Introduce Yourself as well as the live album Live at the Brixton Academy, the latter two also having single releases from them on January 18, 1988 and in 1991 respectively. It was also their second most played song during live performances, behind "Epic", and sometimes featured altered lyrics and ad-libs in the Mike Patton era performances.
The lyrics of this song are about a range of things the band ironically claims to 'care a lot' about, such as the LAPD, the "food that Live Aid bought", the Garbage Pail Kids and even The Transformers. The original version, released in 1985, mentioned Madonna and Mr. T. This was altered for social relevance in the 1987 re-release.
There was a seven-second-long ad-lib of "The Right Stuff" by New Kids On The Block on the Live at the Brixton Academy version. The song continued to be sung by Mike Patton during the band's later tours, occasionally changing the mention of Rock Hudson in the lyrics to Rodney King.
In 2005, the Discovery Channel program Dirty Jobs began to use the bridge portion of the song ("It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it") as its theme song.
