Pollyanna Frank Was An Israeli Rock Band Led By Sharon Ben-Ezer. They Have Been Active On/off From 1987 To 2003.
The Band Is Named After A Combination Of The Literature Character Pollyanna And Anna Frank.
Pollyanna Frank Was Formed In 1987 By Sharon Ben-Ezer And Liora Mugrabi. The Duo Performed Only Three Times While Their Shows Involved Lesbian Themes Which Were Considered Provocative And Unusual At The Time. After The Concerts Ben-Ezer Moved To Netherlands. In 1987 On A Homeland Visit Ben-Ezer Recorded 8 Songs In Hebrew And English In The Home Studio Of Her Brother רזי בן-עזר. Shabi Uziel Bass And Vocals And Her Brother Drum Machine And Keyboards Collaborated With Her On These Tracks. In 1989 The Band Which Now Consisted Of Ben-Ezer Uziel Ami Levi Guitar And Yuval Levi Backing Vocals Released A Cassette Named "חיה ומתה בארון" Living And Dying In The Closet Which Consisted Mostly Of Tracks Recorded Two Years Ago. In The Liner Notes Ben-Ezer Thanked Her Friends For The Recording To The Feminist Movement And The Lesbian-Feminist Movement She Dedicated The Tape "With Loathing To Liora And With Love And Passion To Fish" Her New Girlfriend From Netherlands.
Ben-Ezer Came Back Along The Year With Pollyanna Frank Which Consisted Of Fish Backing Vocals Uziel Bass And Her Brother Drum Machine .
On May 1989 Pollyanna Frank Played At The "Alenbi Cinema" אלונה דניאל Played As A Guest Appearance. In 1999 On Another Homeland Visit The Band Was Reunited And Recorded Their Second Album אין לבחור No Choosing . On The Course Of That Year The Album Received A CD Release With Five Bonus Tracks From The First Cassette. After That Ben-Ezer Went Back Abroad And Played With Several Other Bands. On June 2000 The Band Released It's Third Album Which Consisted As A Duo Now Ben-Ezer Haim Ilfman "אחריי הציונות על שפת הים" After The Zionism On The Seashore . Robert Bergman Cello Nigel Hoyl Bass And Ami Levi Vocals Appeared As Guests On The Album. In 2001 The Band Released An EP Which Consisted Of Four Versions Of The Song "החופש" The Freedom And A Live Version Of "Strange Fruit" With Uziel Bass And Rona Kenan Guitar And Vocals .
In 2002 The Band Released The Album "נדירים" Rares Which Included Rare Live And Unreleased Material.
In 2003 As Part Of The "Plastelina Series" NMC Released "פלסטלינה 1" Plastelina 1 A Compilation Of Remixed Songs By Pollyanna Frank. read less
