Antonio Ríos Fernández Dancer And Choreographer Was Born In Jerez De La Frontera In A Gypsy Family In The Santiago Quarter. He Is A Grandson Of Tía Juana La Del Pipa A Matriarch Of Flamenco And A Nephew Of Antonio And Juana La Del Pipa From Whom He Inherits His Stage Name. He First Learned To Dance In His Family Circle And Later Studies With Fernando Belmonte Paco Del Río Angelita Gómez Matilde Coral Manolo Marín And Manolete. He Was A Member Of The Following Companies Manuel Morao Ballet De Cristina Hoyos La Tati Ricardo Franco And Antonio Vargas. He Performed Together With Such Great Artists As José Mercé Manuela Carrasco Carmen Linares And Matilde Coral. He Appeared On Stage With Personalities Like José Carreras Lola Flores And Isabel Pantoja As Well As With The Órquesta De Cámara De Sevilla And The European Romani Orchestra. For Several Seasons The World Music Institute Of Manhattan Invited Him To Take Part In The Musical Show “Gypsy Caravan”. With This Show He Travelled The U.S.A. And Europe. He Was Chosen By The Connecticut Ballet As Representative Of Spain For The Gala “Men In Dance” That Was Celebrated In Stanford. His Last Great Success “DE TABLAO” Which Had Been Considered The Best Show Of The Biennial “Málaga En Flamenco” Was Performed At Theatres Like Teatro Albéniz Madrid City Center New York Sadler’s Wells London Teatro Villamarta Jerez The National Theatre Of Costa Rica The Theatre Chaillot Paris The Guitar Festival Córdoba. It Received The Readers’ Award Of The Internet Magazine DeFlamenco.Com For The Best Flamenco Show Of 2005. In The Same Year Antonio Obtained The Award “Estrellas Del Flamenco” Which Had Been Only Recently Created By The Tablao Corral De La Morería And Had Been Given To Antonio Gades After His Death. The Year 2007 Begins At The Teatro Gran Vía De Madrid Where The Successful Show “DE TABLAO” Is Performed Eight Times. It Was Undisputedly Successful And The Specialized Press Called Antonio “new Star Of Flamenco Dance”. The Première Of His Last Choreography “PUERTAS ADENTRO” Takes Place On The 26 August 2007 At The Biennial “Málaga En Flamenco”. It Was Performed At The Teatro Central Seville Teatro Villamarta Jerez Infanta Leonor Jaén Teatro Alhambra Granada And Teatro Cánovas Málaga . At The Beginning Of 2008 He Performs For One Week At The Auditorio Dos Océanos Lisbon . Later He Tours Costa Rica With The Festival De Las Artes 2008 Where He Performs During The Opening Night In San José. The Last Award He Received Was An Award That Has Been Called The “Oscar Of Flamenco” By The Specialized Press The National Award By The Chair Of Flamencology At The University Of Jerez. Antonio Is Considered A True Heir Of The Purest And Most Authentic Gypsy Dance Free From Artificial And Superfluous Ornaments.
