In the original 1989 London cast recording of Miss Saigon, the West End musical by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, "The Movie in My Mind" was performed by Isay Alvarez (as showgirl Gigi) and Lea Salonga (Kim) as they reflect on their dreams of a better life, backed by an ensemble (playing the Bar Girls).
