Formado En 1979 En Minneapolis MN El Grupo De Funk Lipps Inc. Fue Un Proyecto Del Productor Y Multi-Instrumentista Steven Greenberg. Tras Lograr Un Contrato De Grabación Con La Discográfica Casablanca Lanzó El Sencillo “Rock It” El Cual Fue Un Éxito Local Y Luego Se Dedicó A Crear Un Álbum Completo Contratando A La Vocalista Cynthia Johnson. Ya Que “Rock It” No Tuvo El Éxito Esperado A Nivel Nacional Se Lanzó Otra Canción Del Álbum “Funky Town”. Se Convirtió En Un Enorme Éxito Posicionándose Durante 4 Semanas Como Número Uno Y Llegando A Ser Un Clásico Del Género Y De La Era.
