J Dilla Alias Jay Dee Nació Como James Dewitt Yancey El 7 De Febrero De 1974 Y Murió El 10 De Febrero De 2006 Ha Sido Uno De Los Productores Más Respetados Del Hip Hop Desde Que Se Empezara A Dar A Conocer A Mediados De Los 90 En La Escena Underground De Detroit Michigan. Formó Parte Del Ummah El Equipo De Productores De A Tribe Called Quest Y Fue Miembro Fundador De Slum Village Grupo Que Publicó Su Debut Oficial Fantastic Vol. 2 En 2000 Tras Lo Cual Jay Dee Lo Abandonó Para Centrarse En Su Carrera En Solitario. En 2001 Cambió De Jay Dee A J Dilla Y Llegó Welcome To Detroit Con El Sello BBE Un Disco Producido Íntegramente Por Él Y Que Mostró Al Mundo A Algunos De Los Máximos Talentos Del Underground De Su Ciudad. Dos Años Después Se Trasladó Desde Detroit A Los Angeles Se Unió Al Sello Stones Throw Y Creó Jaylib Con Madlib. El Grupo Publicó Champion Sound Disco Que Fue Recibido Con Críticas Entusiastas. A Pesar De Preferir El Trabajo Incansable En El Anonimato A La Fama Jay Dee Produjo A Lo Largo De Los Años Para Artistas Como Jay-Z Busta Rhymes The Pharcyde Q-Tip Common De La Soul D'Angelo O Erykah Badu. In One Of The Many Examples Of Mirroring And Progression On The Album The Title Alludes To The Earlier Similarly Titled Track “Workinonit.” However Unlike The Earlier Upbeat Song This Song Is Relatively Sad And Cool In Tone. The Title Could Be A Portmanteau Of “walking On It ” Similar To The Earlier “working On It ” Or It Could Be Interpreted As “walk In On It ” To Catch Someone In The Act Of Doing Something. This Might Be A Closer Interpretation As It Leaves The Speaker “broken And Blue.”
