Nina Åström Is A Finnish Gospel Singer And Songwriter Who Represented Finland In The 2000 Eurovision Song Contest. She Started Performing In The 1980's And Published Her Debut Album In 1991. She Currently Lives In Kokkola. Nina Åström Was Born And Now Lives In Finland. She Has An MA-Degree With The English Language As Her Major Subject. She Is Married And Has Twin Daughters. Towards The End Of The 80's Nina Started To Perform Regularly. She Is A Representative Of The Pop-Folk Style And Has Been Influenced By Artists Like James Taylor The Carpenters Stevie Wonder Mary Black And Jennifer Warnes. Nina Has Worked In Almost 20 Countries The "newest" Among Them Is The Filippines. From The Beginning Of The 2000's Nina Has Also Performed In Prisons Mainly In Russia And Ukraine . Partnering On These Trips Are Kansan Raamattuseura From Finland And Skandinavian Children's Mission From Sweden. Singer-Percussionist Kaarle Mannila Is Usually Accompanying Her On These Trips As Also Otherwise As Nina's "duo". Moreover Co-Operation With Pastor Seppo Juntunen In His Prayer Ministry Music And Prayer Combined Has Been A New Development During The Last Couple Of Years. The Most Recent Partnership Has Come Out Of Nina Being Engaged As A Unicef Goodwill Ambassador In Her Native City Of Kokkola And The Province Of Central Ostrobothnia That Are Partners To Unicef Finland Year 2004. Apart From Live Performances Nina Has Had Numerous Appearances In Entertainment- And Christian Programs On Radio And TV In Different Countries. One Major Project Was The ”Christmas Calendar” Of FST Finland In 1996 Where Nina Was Starring. This Series Also Included Several Musical Appearances. Moreover During The Last Few Years Nina Has Contributed To Prayer- And Devotional Books Released In Finland. Over The Years The Music Of Nina Åström Has Been Appreciated By Both Her Fans And Musicians For Her Great Voice Her Warmth And Integrity That Come Across Through The Music And Songs.
The Songs Are Written From A Christian Perspective And Are A Personal Statement As Well. They Want To Make Us Aware Of The Fact That As Human Beings We Are Vulnerable And We Need Each Other's Support And Commitment. We Need God’s Grace.
