Lucas Lodewyk Maree 22 July 1952 – 18 February 2011 Was A Well-Known Afrikaans Singer And Songwriter. He Was Best Known For His Hit I Could Do With A Million . For Example M-Net Used The Song For Their TV Series "Doen Met 'n Miljoen". For Most Of His Career Maree Played English Music In Bars And Restaurants In And Around Pretoria And Johannesburg Among Others At "After Dark" And "Fonteine ​​pub And Grill". During 1981 He Started Writing In Afrikaans After He Visited Jannie Du Toit 's House Concerts Under The Influence Of A Friend And Also Heard Coenie De Villiers Sing There. In 2009 He Released The Last Album He Worked On Himself Namely Langverwag . It Features Some New Songs As Well As Tracks From His Favorite Afrikaans Songs Such As Liedjie Vir Jou Onder In My Whiskey Glas Klein Karoo And Many More With Ollie Viljoen . In 2010 After It Was Announced That Lucas Was Diagnosed With Cancer Alexa Strachan Started Working Together With Mathys Roets And Mathys Maree In Collaboration With Sarie Tydskrif On An Ensemble Project Called "One In A Million - For Lucas" Where Several Artists Perform Their Version Of Lucas' Famous Hits. Artists Such As Mathys Roets Coenie De Villiers Laurinda Hofmeyer Steve Hofmeyer Kurt Darren Richard Van Der Westhuizen Lochner De Kock Jannie Du Toit Christa Steyn Anton Goosen Dozi Danie Niehaus Kevin Leo Jannie Moolman Schalk Joubert And Many More Appear On The Album.
