Mexican Composer Born In Alamos Sonora In 1950. In 1966 Márquez Began His Music Training With Thomas Rosseti And Eva McGowen In La Puente Calif. In 1969-70 He Was Conductor Of The Navojoa Sonora Band. He Pursued His Music Studies At The Conservatory Of Music Of México The Taller De Composición Of The Institute Of Fine Arts Of México With Joaquín Gutiérrez Heras Hector Quintanar Raúl Pavón And Federico Ibarra At Paris With Jacques Casterede And At The California Institute Of The Arts With Morton Subotnick Lucky Mosko Mel Powel And James Newton. He Has Worked At The National University Of Mèxico Superior School Of Music And CENIDIM National Center Of Research Documentation And Information Of Mexican Music .
His Main Works Are SON A TAMAYO For Harp Percussion Tape And Video TIERRA And LA NAO For Dance And Tape HOMENAJE A GISMONTI For String Quartet PAISAJES BAJO EL SIGNO DE COSMOS For Orchestra DANZON 1 Through 8 For Different Ensembles ZARABANDEO For Clarinet And Piano MASCARAS For Harp And Orchestra ESPEJOS EN LA ARENA For Cello And Orchestra There Also Exists A Version For Viola . In 1991 He Received The Composition Scholarship Of The Consejo Nacional Para La Cultura Y Las Artes And In 1994 1997 And 2004 A 3 Year Scholarship From The Sistema Nacional De Creadores. He Music Was Premiered At The Festival Cervantino In October 2005 His Cantata Sueños Dreams With Texts Of Martin Luther King Gandhi Guillermo Velázquez Eduardo Langagne Cristof Buarque And With The Artistic Collaboration Of Eduardo García Barrios Eduardo Langagne Gabriel Castorena José Luis Cruz Gilberto Aceves Navarro And Rossana Peñalosa. In 2005 Venezuela Organized The Festival Internacional “Arturo Márquez”. His CD “El Danzón Según Márquez" The Danzón According To Márquez Was Released In November 2005.
