Shortway Was Originally Formed As A 5 Piece With A Much Longer Name. Most Of The Original Members Heralded From Fairbanks AK Until Their Mass Exodus To Portland Oregon In 1998-99. They Released A 3- Song Demo As A 5-Piece That Was Self Titled And Immediately Began Work On Their First Full-Length. During Production Of That First Record The Band Experienced Difficulty When One Of Their Vocalists And One Of The Guitar Players Quit The Band Due To Mounting Family Responsibilities And Concerns. This Left Shortway In It's Current Configuration As A 3-Piece Which Consists Of M.Keefe Rayfield On Vocals Guitar And A Bit Of Trumpet Erik Falat On Bass And Mark Ellsworth On Drums Vocals And Samples. The Three Of Them Went Back Into The Studio And Recorded 5 New Tracks And Along With Re-Working Their Favorite Tracks From The Original Album Recording Sessions They Finally Released There First Full Length Album Stillpoint On Eat My Records. Since That Time They Have Promoted The Album Receiving Radio Play And Favorable Reviews From Many Sources On Their Native West Coast As Well As Nationally And Internationally. They Played Many Hometown Shows And Started Playing Shows Up And Down The Coast As Well All In Support Of Stillpoint. In 2005 They Went Back To Smegma Studios And Cut Material For A New 7" Single And Instrumental Tracks For What Was Then Going To Be An Instrumental Split With Another Band. By The End Of It They Had Completed The Deconception Single Which Was Released Online But Has Yet To Be Released On Vinyl. The Instrumental Tracks From The Sessions Were Set To Be Released As An Instrumental EP Entitled "Found Nation" But Has Yet To Be Completed. After A Year Long Hiatus Shortway Made The Move To Put Out Another Album. This Time They Went To Hawthorne Bridge Recording With The Board Manned By Justin Phelps And Produced 7 Tracks That Would Make Up The Body Of Their Next Release Tentatively Titled "Hermetic" This Release Should Be Released At The Beginning Of 2010 Once Again Under Eat My Records.
