Jillis Molenaar The Hague 1974 Is A Dutch Sounddesigner Guitarist & Composer And Mainly Works For Motion Picture Projects But Has Also Worked For Television Programs And Was Recently Involved In A Documentairy Project For The Radio For Wich He Did The Sounddesign.
Not Only Did He Graduate At The Dutch Filmacademy In Amsterdam But He Also Studied At The Interfaculty Of Image And Sound At The Royal Conservatory In The Hague.
During This Period 1995/1998 Jillis Got Lessons From People Like 'Dick Raaijmakers Horst Rickels Joost Rekveld And Paul Koek' And Found Out About His Love For Sound And Motion Picture Soundtrack. In 2007 At The Dutch FilmFestival In Utrecht NFF Jillis Molenaar Was Nominated For A 'Golden Calf' In The Category 'Best Sound' For 4-Elements. Since A Few Years Jillis Has Developed Himself As A Sounddesigner With Arranging And Composing Skills Using A Wide Variety Of Sources For Creating Soundtracks Soundscapes Drones And Music.
Most Of The Time His Work Contains A Mixture Of Self-Recorded Live Sounds Or Samples And Re-Edited Audio Fragments And 'partly-Accoustic And Synthetic Produced Layers Of Sound Or Soundscapes'.
His Passion For Field-Soundrecordings Made Him Explore And Use Various Stereo & Surround-Sound Techniques. Nowadays Jillis Edits Everything In ProTools And Works With A Mostly Self Recorded Audio Database. His Main Instrument Is By Far The Electric Guitar.
The Music Sounds And Ideas Of The Late Jimi Hendrix Are Probably His Biggest Influences In Music As Wel As In Life.
Jillis Plays A Custom-Build Vintage Thinline Telecaster In Combination With VOX Amps And Mainly The Model AC30.
