A Kiedy Tęsknię by Anita Lipnicka

Künstlerbiographie Anita Lipnicka

Anita Lipnicka Born 13 June 1975 Poland – Singer/songwriter. Balancing On The Edge Of Worlds Pop & Alternative Dividing Her Singing Language Between Polish And English Anita Is A Hard Case To Classify. How Do You Go From Being A Fashion Model To Credible Singer-Songwriter In The First Place? ‘It’s Easy!’ – She Laughs At The Question. ‘You Just Need 15 Years To Complete The Transformation .’ That’s How Long It Took Anita To Get To Her “Hard Land Of Wonder “– The Ninth Album In Her Career Which She Curiously Considers Her Début. ‘What Happened Before Was Just A Warm Up.’ - She States Half-Jokingly. Nice One When You Have 2 Million Records Sold To Date Like She Does. Born In Poland Right In The Bleak Time Of Communism She Remembers Her Weird Fascination With Trains ‘I Would Spend Hours Sitting At The Railway Station Watching The Trains Go By… Planning My Great Escape. I Felt Restless And Just Wanted Out Of This Place.’ The Opportunity To Travel Drew Her To Modeling That’s How She Ended Up In Tokyo At The Tender Age Of 15 But She Quickly Realized It Wasn’t Her Call. She Had A Short Flirt With Acting Too But It Was In Music That She Finally Found Her True Spirit . ‘Listening To People Like Leonard Cohen Bob Dylan Or Joni Mitchell Was A Mind- Blowing Experience. I Didn’t Even Understand Very Much English Then But I Could Certainly Feel The Power Of Their Work The Fire In It. They Invited Me To That Extraterrestrial World – A World Of Sounds And Words. Instantly I Just Knew I Wanted To Be Part Of This.’ She Started Her Professional Career At 19 As Lead Singer And Lyricist Of Varius Manx – A Band That Soon Proved To Be One Of The Most Influential On The Polish Pop/rock Scene Of The 90s’. Having Recorded 2 Mega-Successful Albums With Them Loved By Critics And Public Alike Anita Became The Female Voice Of Her Generation Only To Quit The Band Right At The Peak Of Their Popularity ‘Stardom Wasn’t A Place Of My Choice The Pressure That Came With It . It Was Like Some Unwanted Side Effect Of My Fix! Finally I Got Tired Of Teddy Bears Being Thrown At Me. That Was The End.’ Desperate For Privacy But Also Eager To Search For A More Personal Way Of Expressing Herself In Music She Chose London For Her Asylum And Focused On Putting Together Her First Solo Project Which Was Finally Recorded With A Bunch Of British Top Session Musicians. The Album Was A Great Success Followed Up By Two Others She Did Under Her Own Name. Despite Her Strong Position In Early 2000 She Decided To Take A Drastic Step Surprisingly Declaring The End Of Her Solo Career ‘I Felt I’d Hit The Wall And Needed To Re-Define Myself.’- She Sums It Up. ‘Doing More ‘pop’ Was Out Of The Question – I Had Grown Up By Then And Simply Wanted To Make Music For Grown-Ups.’ The Result Of This Artistic Quest Was Her Long-Term Collaboration With A Veteran Welsh Musician John Porter Who Allegedly Brought ‘rock And Roll’ To Poland Arriving In Warsaw With His Guitar In The Early 70’s And Quickly Becoming A Cult Figure In Both Musical And Social Circles Of The Time. Meeting John Was Cathartic For Anita – Finally She Could Break Free From Her ‘strictly Pop’ Image . In 2003 The Duo Lipnicka &Porter Came Out With Their First Neo-Folk/alt Country Project “Indecent Songs”’ Which Was Considered An ‘instant Classic’ By The Polish Industry And Enthusiastically Embraced By The Audience. The Couple Did Two More Highly Acclaimed Albums Together – “Inside Story” 2005 And “Goodbye” 2008 Both Produced By Chris Eckman Of The Walkabouts/Dirtmusic . Anita Also Made A Guest Appearance On Eckman’s Last Solo Album ‘Last Side Of The Mountain’ Singing ‘Who Will Light Your Path?’ With Him. Trading Fame For Credibility Trying To Find Her Way As An Independent Artist Anita Has Now Come Out With Her First Fully Self-Written And Produced Work To Date Definitively Waving Goodbye To Her ‘celeb’ Past With It. Recorded In Several Studios In England “Hard Land Of Wonder” Is A Compelling Collection Of Intimate Love And Loss Ballads All Carefully Arranged Around Anita’s Voice And Her Fragile Piano Playing With Mostly Acoustic Sounds And Textures As A Backdrop. ‘The Idea Was Very Simple I Wanted To Construct A Real Emotional Bomb Using Minimal Means Of Expression’ – States The Artist. And Sure She Did. The Record Went Gold Within Weeks Of Its Release In Poland And Won The Most Prestigious Polish Industry Award ‘Fryderyk’ In The Category ‘best Singer-Songwriter Album Of The Year 2009’. Currently Anita Is Taking Up A New Challenge Trying To Win A New Audience With Her Music This Time Outside Of Her Homeland. ‘Being Brought Up In Communism Left An Invisible Scar On Me. I Grew Up Feeling Like I Belonged To Some Minor Inferior World And That All The Good Stuff Was Happening Elsewhere Out Of Reach. Things Have Changed But I’ve Never Stopped Being Obsessed With Crossing The Boundaries – Those On Maps And Those Within Me. Like I’m Still Desperate To Get On That Train To Somewhere Special And Music Is My Ticket.’ Weitere Infos Http //www.Myspace.Com/anitalipnicka#ixzz12mIZKBDy
