Some Of These Tracks Are Fairly Minimal So Those Who Like A Fuller Sound Might Be Turned Off However This "middle-Aged Fat Rasta" Consistently Serves Upcsolid Grooves For Those Who Like To Keep It Simple. Any Fans Of Kraftwerk Or Richie Hawtin Aka Plastikman Should Check This Out. Creation Kicks Off With A Warm Analogue Bassline Which Pulses Back And Forth Between Your Ears. This Is Soon Joined By A Funky Electro-Style Beat. A Sharp Lead Melody Reminiscent Of Computer World Era Kraftwerk Joins Us As The Beat Drops Out. This Lead Adds A Feeling Of Apprehension To The Track But Combined With The Bassline Creates An Nice Groove Which Should Get You Moving. The Beat Is Built Up Slowly With The Addition Of Extra Percussion And More Kraftwerk-Style Blips. Towards The End Of The Track The Mood Shifts With The Addition Of Some Excellent Calming Pads Which Close Off The Piece Nicely. Oxis Is A Simple Electro Track But That's Where Its Strength Lies. It Starts Off With A Bubbling Acid Style Lead Which Is Repetitive On The Surface But Constantly Changing. Next In Is The Beat - Again A Simple Electro Affair But It'll Definitely Get Your Head Nodding. However The Defining Moment Occurs At Over 2 Minutes Into The Track When The Bassline Drops In. Suddenly The Acid Lead Comes Alive And The Beat Is Grooving. A Definite Lesson On How Each Part Of A Track Can Affect The Others. Minimal Yet Effective. Waterdub Starts With An Electro Beat Combined With Gurgling Acid Bubbles Which Tickle Your Ears. Once Again The Track Really Kicks Off With The Addition Of A Bassline. It Seems Alfabaz Drops Basslines Like A Dj Drops Beats. In This Case Its A Groovy Dub-Style Sub-Bass. Meanwhile Chords Which Are Somehow Reminiscent Of Early Rave Music At Least To Me! Combine With The Basslines & Beats To Get The Groove Going. But It's That Dubby Bassline Which Really Makes This Track. Globant Good Ballgame Dub Remix Is Probably My Favourite Of The Four Reviewed. Starting Off Simple With A Funky Electro Beat Alfabaz Gradually Brings In New Parts Slowly Building The Groove Over The First Few Minutes. A Simple But Effective Lead Introduces An Excellent Bassline Which Once Again Defines The Track And Sets The Groove. However This Track Really Takes Off In The Last Few Minutes Thanks To Some Incredibly Luscious Pads Which Combine With The Bassline Perfectly. My Only Complaint About This Track Is That It Ends Too Abruptly Despite Clocking In At Just Under Seven Minutes! Although Alfabaz Brings In Elements Of Old-School Dub He's Clearly Influenced By Techno/Ambient Music. The Music Is Pulsing And Grooves With Ecstasy-Induced Euphoria But There Is An Obvious Intelligence Behind The Slinky Basslines And Disturbing Elements Of Noise. read less
