Künstlerbiographie Aimless

Aimless Was A German Gothic-Wave-Metal Band Founded 1994 In Trier/Germany. The Bandmembers Sandra Meyer Voc. Daniela Grünewald Violine Jörg Stoffregen Gitarre Michael Bousonville Bass Michael Lang Drums Were Influenced By German Darkwave 80ies Metal And Also Bands Like New Model Army "dead Can Dance" And "the Levellers". In 1995 They Recorded Their First Demotape "gothic Folk" And Played Constantly Gigs In The Local Area. Caused In The Fact That There Was Not A Real Gothic Scene In Trier They Often Had To Play In Pubs Or Bikerclubs In Front Of A Confused Crowd. Summer 1996 Aimless Started The Recording Sessions For Their Debut Album Without Any Record Label. These First Sessions Stopped After 2 Weeks Because The Band Fired Drummer Michael Lang. A Wild Tumultuary Live Drummer On The One Hand He Showed Massive Problems In The Studio. In Winter 1996 Aimless Went Back To The Studio With Christoph Mertes From The Black Metal Band "Ancient Ceremony" As A Sessiondrummer. Additional Musicians Were Ruth Thoma On Violincello And Claudia Eberhardt On Cello Who Also Played Several Livegigs At This Time . The Recordings Were Shadowed By Serious Struggles Within The Band Caused By Conflicts Between Sandra And Daniela The Financial Pressure And Also The Role Of Michael Bousonville As Bandmember And Engineer In The Same Person. The CD Was Released In Spring 1997 And For The First Time Aimless Recieved National And International Recognition. The Greek Metal Hammer For Example Rated The CD With 9/10 Points And Put It In The List Of The Actual Bestloved Albums Of The Editorial Department. The German Gothic-Wave-Elektro Lable "Dion Fortune" Licenced The Debut Cd And Aimless Played Countrywide Gigs With The New Drummer Holger Rodammer. But The Work With Holger Rodammer Was Difficult From The Beginning. He Was A Real Funny Kid From The Local Metalscene An Original Who Acted Like A Maniac On Stage Sometimes Very Confusing For The Gothiccrowd But He Had A Lot Of Difficulties With The Increasing Professional Requests. The Growing Tension Inside Of The Band Results In The Venomed Departure Of Michael Bousonville Who Also Was The Manager And The Split With Drummer Holger Rodammer. The Last Gig With Michael Bousonville And One Of The First With The New Drummer Michael Stein Was A Unforgetable Concert At The Gothic-Wave Treffen In Leipzig . New Bassplayer Became Dirk Wirz From "Ancient Ceremony". In 1998 The Debut Cd Was Officially Released In South Corea Under The Title "le Soleil". But The Line-Up Changes And Growing Buisnessproblems Leads To Stagnation. In 1999 The Band Signed A Contract With The New Founded Unexperienced Label "alister Records" Who Offered A Professional Cd Production. With Producer Tim Buktu Massacra Kindtot The Band Entered The Studio Again In Summer 1999. The Recordings Were Also Accompanied By Tensions Within The Band And With Producer Tim Buktu Who Prefered A More Commercial Sound. "Seven Stars One Supernova" Released In Spring 2000 Was Ambivalent. Including Bewitching Atmospheric Songs On The One Hand The Album Was Too Clean And Sober On The Other. Guestmusicians On The Album Were Ali Aslanby Oral Cakir And Chitral Somapala Ex- Firewind . One Of The Greatest Moments On The Record Is The Oriental Influenced "a Hundred Meters Above The Earth" Which Appeared In The Same Year On The "Angels Delight" Sampler With Bands Like Nightwish Anne Clark Or Lacuna Coil . But The Label Was Not Able To Promote The Cd And The Reduced Influences Of Gothic And Metal Disappointed Many Of The Old Supporters In The Leading German Metal Magazin "Rock Hard" The Cd Although Gets 8/10 Points . In Winter 2000 The Aimless Had The Opportunity To Support "subway To Sally" On Their Christmastour. Although The Tour Was Successful Everthing Seemed To Work Against The Band. One Of The Last Concerts Was The Zillofestival In Losheim/germany. Because Of The Increasing Other Commitments Of Drummer Michael Stein No Support Of A Management Or A Label They Band Decided To Finish The Band In The Beginning Of 2002.
