The Band Is Considered Influential In Introducing The Sound Of Hardcore Punk Particularly In Their Home State Of Texas And Incorporating Socialist Lyrics And Blues Rock Influences Into Their Sound. Singer Gary Floyd Was Noted As One Of A Handful Of Openly Gay Musicians In The Hardcore Scene. In The Mid-’80s The Dicks Relocated To The More Left-Wing San Francisco. As Of 2004 The Band Is Reformed And Playing Shows.
