The Word Yolocamba I Ta Has Its Origin From Two Native Languages From Central America The Chorti And The Lenca Now Disappeared From El Salvador But Still Spoken In Some Native Communities In Central America From The South East And South West Of Honduras And South East Of Guatemala. Yolocamba I Ta Might Mean “The Melancholy Of The People” Or “The Rebellion Of A Crop”. The Group Yolocamba I Ta Was Founded In August Of 1975 By Two Brothers Franklin Quezada And Roberto Quezada In The Company Of Manuel Gomez And Paulino Espinoza While They Were Attending High School A School Called Externado San Jose In San Salvador El Salvador. From The Beginning The Group Was Created Motivated By The Researching Explore And Expand Salvadorian Folklore Music. That Motivation Got The Band Involve With The Social-Historical Reality. Promoting Then A Cultural Evolution And Fusion That Would Embrace A Harmony Of Multiples Back Ground Ethnicities Present In El Salvador Central America And The Whole Continent. Yolocamba I Ta Took Part In An Organization And Foundation Called MUCAPAS Musicos Y Cantores Populares Asociados Salvadoreños- 1976-1977 And A Movement Of Popular Culture MCP-1977-1982 Which Reunited More Than 300 Artists From El Salvador Demanding Better Conditions Social Justice Human Rights Respect And A Better Appreciation Of Art And Popular Culture. MCP Organized Popular Cultural Acts In Which The Band Was Always Present. Due To A Government Repression The MCP Disappeared In 1982 And More Than 80 Artist Were Murdered And Disappeared Another Among Fled The Country And Faced Exiled. From 1975 To 1980 Yolocamba I Ta Participated On A Vast Number Of Concerts In El Salvador And Tours To Guatemala Costa Rica Panama Mexico And Cuba. The Intense Activity Of The Group Increased The Repression By The Government Making The Band’s Member Direct Targets. Their Music Is Officially Forbidden In January Of 1980 Few Months Later Military Forces Killed Monseñor Oscar Arnulfo Romero And Yolocamba I Ta Is Forced To Leave The Country And Faced Exiled. Several Members Of Quezada Family Had Been Also Murdered And Disappeared. Mexico Will Be The Band’s Temporary Home From 1980 To 1993 Time That They Spent Spreading Their Music And Touring Over 30 Countries And Developing 8 New Records Produsing Music For Movies And Promoting Solidarity Toward El Salvador With Several Other Countries Through Their Songs About Freedom And Justice. Between 1994 And 1997 The Dynamic Of The Yolocamba I Ta Changed. The Band Took A Rest And Paused Their Artistic Activities No Tours Nor Concerts Were Performed. The Quezada Brothers Had Returned Home To Be With Their Beloved Families. Franklin Moved Back To El Salvador In 1991 Roberto Did It In 1993 July Of 1997 Yolocamba I Ta Got Back To Their Instruments And Worked Reestablishing All Their Musical Activities. Two New Faces Are This Time Filling The Empty Spots. Pedro Portillo And Victor Canizales. Fundation Yolocamba I Ta For The Development Of Popular Art Is Born.
