800 Cherries Are The Tokyo-Based Shibuya-Kei Duo Of Manami Marufuji マルフジマナミ Vocals/guitar/keyboards And Masayuki Takahashi 高橋正之 Guitar/bass/keyboards/production . They Formed As A 3-Piece Unit In Sapporo In 1994 With Ritsuko Ôtera オオテラリツコ Who Left In 1997. The 800 Cherries Sound Has Evolved From Ethereal Acoustic And Guitar-Based Into A More Electic Style That Incorporates Electronic And Glitch Influences But Constant Are The Japanese Indie/electro Pop Staples Of Whispery Vocals And Tinkly Keyboards. Their First Album Piccolo Was Released In 1995 On Cassette Tape. Their Latest Album Opuscula Was Released In 2000. The Members Have Since Gone On Unofficial Hiatus And Pursued Other Musical Projects Takahashi Was A Member Of The Band Replicant In 2001 And Is Currently A Member Of Pervenche.
