The Mekaal Hasan Band Is A Jazz/rock Fusion Band From Pakistan Playing A Unique Style Of Music Which Draws From Eastern And Western Influences To Create A Blend Of Sounds Deeply Rooted In Eastern Classical Styles And A Jazz-Rock Feel Reminiscent Of The 70's. The Band Was Formed In 2001 Under Guitarist And Composer Mekaal Hasan Initially Starting With A Collaboration With Renowned Percussionist Pete Lockett. The Efforts Received Critical And Public Acclaim As A Breakthrough Style Of Fusion Music. Mekaal Decided To Continue Writing Music Along Similar Lines And Formed A Full Time Band Which Released Its Debut Album 'Sampooran' In 2004.
