After Gaining Independence In 1962 President Léopold Sédar Senghor Wanted To Strengthen And Promote Senegalese Culture Which Lead To The The Creation Of A National Theatre Which Would House Diverse Cultural And Artistic Activities L'Ensemble National De Ballet Le Troupe Nationale Dramatique And L'Ensemble Lyrique Traditionnel. This Cultural Center Inaugurated 17 July 1965 By President Président Léopold Sédar Senghor Was Created On The Ruins Of The Dakar Palace Theatre And Directed By Maurice Sonar Senghor Who In Paris 1948 Had Created A Group Of Singers And Dancers Hailing From Senegal Gambia Cameroun Côte D'Ivoire And New Guinea. Sonar Senghor And His Troupe Formed The First Pan-African Group Which Played At Folies Bergères In 1952. Composed Of Many Talented Artists From Many Comunities All Throughout Senegal Wolofs Sereres Mandingos Fulani And More The Ensemble Is Often Invited To The Presidential Palace To During Official Ceremonies. It Furthermore Represented Senegal In The World Festival Of Negro Arts In 1966 And After In That Many Countries Throughout The World. L'Ensemble Lyrique Traditionnel Has Known Many Talented Directors Including The Ngoni Player Noumoukunda Koité 1960 The Great Drummer Lama Bouna Mbass Guèye 1970's And Has Contributed To The Discovery Of Many Talented Vocalists And Players Including Soundioulou Cissokho Maa Hawa Kouyaté Amadou Ndiaye Samb Lalo Kéba Dramé Fatou Diouf Diabou Seck Khady Diouf Samba Diabaré Samb Saloum Dieng Fa Mbaye Issa Diop Khar Mbaye Madiaga Fatou Thiam Samb Ndiaga Mbaye Aminata Fall Laye Mboup Ndiouga Dieng Madiodio Gningue Djimo Kouyaté Ndèye Mbaye "Djinma Djinma" Djéli Djiguiba Cissokho Athia Wélé Soda Mama Fall Fatou Guewel Arame Camara And Many More.
