Sieng Vannthy Born On January 8th 1948 In Prey Veng Province Died December 9th 2009 Was A Cambodian Singer. Her Father So Chin Was A Former Comedian And Her Mother Em Somrith Was A Former Lakhorn Bassac Performer. She Had 4 Sisters And A Brother She Was A Fourth Child And Her Sister Sieng Dy Was A Famous Singer Since The Mid 1950s. She Was Also The Aunt Of Yol Aularong. Sieng Vanthy Attended The Singing Contest In Early 1960 And Was Awarded First Prize For Female Singers With The Song “Kyol Kompul Phnom” Originally By Singer Keo Montha. Then She Started Studying At Fine Arts School Sala Phoumin Vichet Silapak And Graduated In 1968. Later She Joined With Her Sister To Sing For SKD Singing Group In Russey Keo. She Married Pov Som On In 1970 Giving Birth To A Son Pov Monireth. In 1972 She Left SKD Singing Group For Kong Pul Toch Thmeu Cherng Ti 13 Singing Group Until The Fall Of Khmer Republic. She Was Forced To Leave Phnom Penh For The Countryside On April 17 1975 With Her Son And Husband. They Were Ordered To Work Hard In The Rice Field As Other Citizens Having Only Porridge And Hiding All Information From Khmer Rouge Officers. In 1979 She Returned To Phnom Penh To Sing Again. She Divorced Her Husband In 1980. Her Singing Career Continued Well And In 1983 She Lived With Her New Husband Ouk Synareth Who Was A Former Husband Of Ros Sereysorphorn Who Died During The Pol Pot Regime With Ros Sereysothea In Kompong Speu Province. Living With Ouk Synareth Sieng Vanthy Gave Birth To A Daughter And A Son Reth Thida Called Ta Ta And Reth Thidona. She Gave Up Her Singing Career After Her Husband Died In 1995 And Took Career As A Tailor. She Died On December 09 2009 In The Khmer-Soviet Hospital Because Of Serious Illness.
