Mark St. John Ellis Originally Studied To Be An Actor At The London Academy Of Music And Dramatic Arts. He Is Now A Composer Working Under The Project Title Elijah's Mantle. The Recordings Are On The De Nova Da Capo Label That He Founded In 1993. The Work Of Elijah's Mantle Apart From Musical Expression Is Multi-Media Combining The Visual Arts - Film Video Photography Art And Design - With Literature. Shortly After Leaving LAMDA And Having Formed According To Melody Maker " The Doom Laden Drum Machine And Feedback Guitar " Band Masque The Project Became Dissatisfied With Playing In The London Rock Venues And Became Theatre Of Masque. The Company Expanded To A Physical Theatre Performance Group Inspired By The Writings Of Antonin Artaud Playing In Art Gallery And Theatres. Mark Started To Compose Music For Pieces Of Theatre And Film Whilst Working With The Photographer Daniel Faoro Both In Stills And Super 8mm Film. The Two Then Collaborated On A Twenty Minute Piece Of Film Set To Music Philosophy With A Hammer Based On The Baroque Imagery Of Caravaggio And De La Tour Which Was Previewed In The Bijou Cinema In Soho London. In An Introductory Talk Before The Showing Mark Anounced The Launch Of His Record Label De Nova Da Capo And Solo Project Elijah's Mantle. Alan Trench From World Serpent Distribution Was In The Audience That Night And As A Consequence An Album Distribution Deal Was Offered. Later The Film Was Released In VHS Format. Mark Moved From London To Ireland On The Invitation Of Brendan Perry Whom He Had Known For Some Years To Produce The First Elijah's Mantle Album.
