Electric Shocks 2001- 2006 Were A London UK Based Garage Punk / Post Punk Rock Band Known For Their Fast Aggressive Melodic And Uplifting Musical Style Described As "rock N Roll The Way Nature Intended". They Were Formed By Singer Dan Hardy And Rhythm Guitarist Dave Taylor Of The Indie Band Tea. Joined By Lead Guitarist Kaoru Sato Formerly Of Six Inch Killaz The Trio Began To Write New Material And Seek Other Members. Dan And Dave Left Tea Soon Afterwards. Australian Bassist Lauren Hughes Was An Early Recruit But Left To Pursue Other Projects And For A Time The Trio Played With Temporary Members Martin Shaw Formerly Of North Eastern Band The Revs On Drums And Dilemmas Bassist Phil Clark With Whom A First Demo Was Cut In Early 2002. On The Strength Of This The Band Were Able To Recruit A Full Time Rhythm Section And Secured A Single Deal With Garage Rock Label Vinyl Japan. Jennie Werlemar Joined In Early 2002 On Bass Guitar And Was Quickly Followed By John Honeysett Another Former Revs Drummer. The Band's First Gig Was In April 2002 At The Bull And Gate In London And They Continued To Tour Frequently Around London The UK And Europe Throughout Their Career Sharing Bills With The Likes Of Electric Six Bloc Party Pink Grease Whirlwind Heat The Thermals Selfish Cunt Art Brut And More. They Were Particularly Prominent In The Musical Scene Surrounding London's Artrocker Club But Played As Far Abroad As Amsterdam The London Calling Festival With The Darkness Arab Strap Franz Ferdinand And Fiery Furnaces Madrid Berlin And Jersey. The First Single The Triple-A EP Featuring Lead Track Baby What's Your Plan Was Recorded At East London's Bark Studio In Spring 2002 And Released That Summer On Vinyl Japan. An Album Deal With Artrocker's Own Label Followed And This Led To The Recording Again At Bark And Release Of Debut Album Wild Dog Setting In 2003 With Single Trouble Gun Following In Early 2004 To Critical Acclaim Gaining Airplay On BBC Radio 1 And MTV2. As Their Career Progressed The Band Became Musically More Diverse Adding An Angular Post Punk Sensibility To Their Original 200mph Garage Punk Roots. Dan's Addition Of Harmonica To Some Of The Tracks And Kaoru's Use Of The Stylophone And Other Analogue Keyboard Sounds Both Added To The Group's Sonic Presence. As Well As Continuing To Tour Extensively 2004 Say The Band Beginning The Process Of Writing And Recording The Follow Up To Wild Dog Setting Provisionally Titled Shake The Hands After The Eponymous Track. However By Early 2005 It Was Becoming Clear That The Group Was Slowly Beginning To Drift Apart And This Turned Out To Be A Year Of Diminishing Activity. Fittingly Their Final Live Gig Was At Artrocker Club In September 2005. Kaoru Left The Band That December And Jennie Followed Early The Next Year. Jennie And Kaoru Formed Electronic Rock Duo Deathline In Late 2006 And Continue To Record And Perform To This Day. Dave Dan And Johnny Continued Joined By Bassist Arthur Collier Former Frontman Of Garage Rockers Me Against Them And Eventually Renamed The Band Animal Maths. Dave Emigrated To New Zealand In Late 2006 Going On To Form Auckland Based Country Rock Outfit Death Valley In 2009. He Now Plays With Garage Rock Band The Raw Nerves Also Based In Auckland. Following Dave's Departure The Band Again Reconfigured With Arthur Switching To Guitar And Claudia Pinto Joining On Bass Renaming To Killerwaves. Killerwaves Parted Company With Claudia In 2008 And Relaunched With New Bass Player Tim Shaw In 2009 As Pound Shop. After Tim's Departure They Briefly Renamed 2010-11 As Stickers With Gautier Quehen On Bass Before Recruiting Adam Bentley Again On Bass And Renaming To The Blanks 2011- . A Collection Of Unreleased Material From The Electric Shocks' Shake The Hands Sessions 2004-2005 Is Available To Listen To For The First Time Here On Last.Fm
