"We don't ever dictate our videos, which is why they're each so different. They're always almost the opposite of what I would've imagined for them, which is actually what's really fun. It's sort of like getting a remix back. It's like, "What part of the song, what essence of the song, is that artist gonna pick up on and use?" Take the "Knife" video, which was really out there as well-- it was like, we liked what those artists had done, and we said "You know what? Just do what you're gonna do and we'll release it."
Upon its release, "Two Weeks" was acclaimed by music critics, and many regarded it as a highlight of Veckatimest. "Two Weeks" has gained popularity in YouTube, where its music video has over 14 million views. Das Racist references the song in the track "Free Jazzmatazz." They claim about their own song, "this is the best song ever. Better than 'Juicy' ... better than "Two Weeks" by Grizzly Bear. That's a pretty good song, right?"
Ed Droste told The Sun how Two Weeks came about: "Chris Bear (our drummer) and I were on a weekend trip to Cape Cod to play around with some song ideas and that one just came out of nowhere with Chris starting the piano line and myself quickly following with a vocal melody and lyrics."
