As You Explore The Many Nooks Of The “Queen Of The Caribbean” You Will Encounter Various Musical Groups That In Their Own Special Way Cultivate The Original “son” Of Santiago One Of These Is The Septeto Tipico Tivoli This Young Traditional Music Group Started Out In 1995 In The District Tivoli Which Is Known For Its Rich Cultural Traditions Hence The Name And After Intense Work Within Amateur Circles In 1996 Became Part Of The Professional Catalog Of Traditional Cuban Music Of Santiago De Cuba. The Vitality Of Its Members And The Excellence Of Its Musical Interpretations Have Branded This Group With An Outstanding Mark Distinguishing Them From Other Musical Groups. With Their Ability To Perform In Trios Quartets And Quintets These Musicians Follow The Path Of Their Ancestors Preserving Their Traditional Sound And The Essence Of Cuban Music. The Septeto Tipico Tivoli Especially Emphasizes The Works Of Santiago Composers Adding Their Very Own Unique Interpretations. Among Their Favorites Are The Works Of Miguel Matamoros Ñico Saquito Sindo Garay Francisco Repilado Compay Segundo And Other National And Foreign Composers Included In Their Repertoire. In This Way One Can Appreciate The Great Variety Of Musical Genres Such As Son Guaracha Bolero Guaguancó Rumba And Others. During The Course Of Five Years The Group Has Played Professionally In Several Venues Of Santiago. All The Tourist Hotels In Santiago Have Enjoyed The Septet. Prestigious Cultural Institutions Such As Casa Del Caribe ICAP Buró De Información Cultural Casa De La Trova Casa De La Música And Casa De Las Tradiciones Have Received These 8 Young Talented Musicians Enthusiastically. They Have Also Participated In Various Important Festivals The Traditional “Fiesta Del Fuego” Or “Festival Del Caribe” And The “Festival De La Trova Pepe Sánchez”. The Santiago TV Channel And Their Local And National Radio Stations Have Dedicated Several Programs To Promote Their Musical Work. There They Launched Their First CD “Tirame La Pelota” Recorded In Siboney Studios EGREM Sponsored And Distributed By The Dutch Record Company Via Calle. Most Of The French Tour Is Spent Visiting Various Cities Such As Paris Toulousse Montpelier Ouistream Hossegor Le Havre And Trouville. In March Of The Same Year They Recorded Their Second CD In Santiago De Cuba “PA QUE NO PIERDAS LA MAÑA” Mixed In The Global Movile Studio Of Helsinki Finland. The Following Year Also Brought Great Success To The Group. 1999 France – The Septet Has A Second Chance To Shake Up The City Of Trouville This Time They Perform In The Salsa Discotheque NEW MORNING Sharing The Bill With The Prestigious Dominican Group Las Chicas Del Can. Many Newspaper Writers And The Press In General Cover The Group’s Performances In These French Lands. The Tourist Office Of Trouville The Casino Lousiane Follies And The Officials Of This City As Represented By Jean Louis Bouet The Artistic Director Congratulated The Septet For Their Work In This French City During These Two Years. During 1998 And 1999 The European Newspapers Featured These Eight Young Cubans In Their Pages Underlining The Group’s Every Event. In Spite Of Their Youth And As A Response To Their Outstanding Interpretative Talents They Could Be Seen Giving Cuban Dance And Traditional Music Classes To Young People In Various Cities Throughout France. Every Performance And Every Cultural Activity In Which This Group Participated Was Covered By The Press. Their Conga Santiaguera Became Very Popular Throughout Europe. During Several Months They Performed As Trios And Quartets In Several French Cities. The Year 2000 Has Brought Much Work And Success For TIVOLI In July They Make Their Third Recording “PA LOS RUMEROS.” At This Time At The Request Of The Public And The Staff At The Recently Founded “Casa De La Musica” They Find Themselves Recording For The Fourth Time At The Siboney Studios Of The EGREM In Their Native City. 2001 And 2002 Are Years Of Intense Work For The Group. They Travel To The City Of Havana To Promote Their Music. Places Such As “Dos Gardenias” “El Gato Tuerto” “Taberna Amigos Del Beny” And “Villa Coral” Enjoyed Their Performances. In December Of The Same Year They Travel To The Beautiful City Of Bridges Matanzas Where They Participate In The Opening Of The “Tropicana Matanzas” Working There For Three Months Sharing The Stage With Well-Known Orchestras Such As Bamboleo Azucar Band Moneda Dura David Y Su Juego De Manos Etc. On Their Return To Their Own City They Participate In The Festival Of The Trova Pepe Sanchez And Are Selected To Perform In The Gala Dedicated By The EGREM Sharing The Stage With The Maestro Eliades Ochoa And Other Groups. In 2003 They Are Chosen To Perform In The Festival EXPOCUBA In The City Of Havana For The Purpose Of Celebrating The Santiago Culture. There They Perform In The Radio Program “Un Domingo Con Rocillo” Dedicated To Pacho Alonzo Where They Share The Stage With Groups Such As Sur Caribe And Pachito Alonzo And His Kini Kinis. Back In Santiago They Participate In Different Galas Organized By The Provincial Center Of Music And In Another Production Of The Festival Of The Trova Pepe Sanchez Which Allows The National And International Audiences To Enjoy Their Work. Also In This Occasion They Share The Stage With National And International Musical Groups Such As The “Septeto De Musica Traditional” And The “Sones Del Oriente Del Japon”. In The Month Of September They Are Asked To Participate In The Recording “Santiago.” Done Their Fifth Recording Which Will Pay Tribute To Great Figures In The History Of Cuban Music Such As Miguelito Cuni Ñico Saquito Pacho Alonzo Juan De Marcos Gonzáles Polo Montañés Among Others As Well As International Figures Such As The Puerto Rican Tite Cure Alonzo. In 2004 The Group Was Chosen To Inaugurate The New Club “Tropicana Matanzas” Working There For Three Months They Are Warmly Received By The Audience As Well As The Directors And Staff. In 2005 They Tour Within The Province Along With Television Personalities. They Produce An Independent CD Titled “Ya Llego El Expreso.” In 2006 They Find Themselves Once Again In EGREM Studios To Create Another CD Which Reflects The Group’s New Sound Titled “DE MI ISLA CARIBE” With Caribbean Genres As Bachata Merengue Latin Fusion Etc.
