Frogtoon Music - Song Info: Portal

“Portal” Is The Opening Track For Lights' Third Studio Album Little Machines. Lights Wrote And Produced The Song By Herself Using Only One Chord To Do So. The Track Made Its Debut On August 12 2014 When It Was Released To ITunes As The Album’s First Countdown Single Along With An Official Music Video That Premiered On Lights’s YouTube Channel The Same Day. Lights Tells Idolator What Inspired The Song’s Simplicity “While Searching For The Right Songs For This Album I Was Thinking About The Aspects Of Creativity In Music And Art And Stuff. So One Of The Experiments I Did Was To See If I Could Actually Write A Whole Song Using One Chord. Is It Possible To Do Something Dynamic Enough And Exciting Enough Using That One Chord With The Melody And The Lyrics? So I Tried It And I Wrote This Sort Of Poem Over It. I Knew This Wasn’t A Standard Song. There’s No Chorus. So I Brought It Back To My Team And They Fell In Love With It. Then I Thought OK This Is Really Cool.“
